Nope, Georgie still reading in Sydney tonight.

Oh no! Hope he gets better soon.
For now, perhaps he could still present 9News using sign language, or maybe like a charades/Pictionary type style!?

Isabella S reporting for Nine News Melbourne tonight
So Peter Overton could be off for a while for his voice to recover.
Probably End of Jan he returns or mid Jan
Nine would have liked to have him on now during the Australian Open. But since Jess has said he will return âsoonishâ while he recovers, I wonder how âsoonâ that is? In time for the ratings period in early February? Perhaps even later?
I say it will be when he is well enough to come back

I donât mind Georgie but I hope Peter is back soon.
From Inside Mail
Regarding Michael Genovese
Inside Mail last week revealed the troops in Genaâs St Georges Terrace newsroom were rebelling after he filled-in as the networkâs prime-time news anchor over the summer break.
âHe shouldnât be reading the news now that heâs in management,â they cried.
But worry not, Nine assured us, it was just one of those roster snafus. Gena doesnât have any intention of trying to take on both roles, they said.
Now weâre hearing the stationâs execs are rebelling against Nineâs explanation?
Nine Perthâs top brass reckon Gena does need to be taking on two roles and reading the news whenever the spot is up for grabs.
Whatâs more the outraged execs warned the networkâs national news director, Fiona Dear, that the network had invested way too much time and money into making Gena an on-air star to have him consigned to some stuffy desk job overlooking mundane budget sheets and staff rosters.
Well, apparently not, because the execsâ pleas fell on Dearâs deaf ears and the debonair reporter is now firmly ensconced in middle management.

There is also mention in the Daily M of Peter Overtonâs absence and the negative impact on the ratings that is (allegedly) having.
Of course, so are the networkâs embattled news bosses - because the 6pm bulletin has been floundering in his absence.
Since stepping in for Overton, the exorbitantly remunerated Gardner has been up against Seven News Sydneyâs A-team, Mark Ferguson and Angela Cox, who have been working throughout the summer.
Despite Nineâs tennis juggernaut, the newly minted double-act smashed Gardner by 10,000 viewers on Sunday night before extending their lead and thrashing her by a walloping 45,000 on Monday as Seven claimed a clean-sweep of the five-city metro news market⌠and the gap widened even further to 49,000 on Tuesday. Yowsers!
Game, set and match, Seven.
My comment: Well done to Seven but - lead in, lead in and lead in. We all know that The Chase is a better lead in to 6pm than tennis. And this is seen across all markets. In addition, new episodes of The Chase have returned early to take advantage of this.
In 2024 Seven News won this equivalent week in Sydney by +20,000 winning every night.
