Don’t necessarily need lavish sets. The CGI guff that he’s pasted ontop of the local landscapes cheapens the look drastically. Melbourne proved that last week by using a common-or-garden clean landscape behind Peter Hitchener in the regional studio, only visual difference was no sweeping studio shots.
Queensland’s old Smithfield Springfield “bureau” was by all accounts quaint, but on-screen it looked pretty much the same as the main studio because it used a standard backdrop.
It also appears that Belinda and/or Nine do business with ANZ because that appeared to be the logo on the VISA card she had tucked into her phone case, although I’m happy to report that the picture resolution was not good enough to pick up a legible PIN!
Nine hasn’t wasted any time integrating Fairfax Media properties into the Sydney bulletin. They had a rather awkward and stilted Domain property snapshot on tonight’s news with Mark Burrows interviewing a Domain research analyst about Sydney auction results and clearance rates.
The 60 years of Nine News report in Brisbane tonight concentrated on the news stories rather than how they were presented. These were the few elements that showed previous presentation elements.
Technical problems occurred during the weather tonight in Melbourne. The camera went from the weather around to Tony Jones on two occasions. Automation strikes again!
