Sounds like a relaunch for Today?
No, just a copycat of Sunrise rebranding its early news.
It says a new chapter for 9News and Today. What’s the new chapter for Today? Starting 30 minutes earlier? I just thought it sounded like there was more to it.
Hard to know if Alex was just ad-libbing there or that’s what was written into the prompter, and then interpreting that into what is actually happening here.
New chapter could just be that the bulletin is rebranded as today, or that Today starts earlier at 5am.
Guess we will see on Monday!
I just saw a clip of CBS Evening News on X and thought it looked somewhat familiar

Who could’ve seen that happening! 
Honestly always prefer using the news branding for news bulletins rather than merging into a breakfast show.
Would’ve liked seeing the opposite happen with “Nine News 8AM update” throughout Today.
I do think that this is also hinting at a Today refresh - seemed clear the major brands were getting a refresh leading up to the Olympics, so would make sense to do the refresh now.
And including the Olympic bug just like the NBC
One can only hope there may be a refresh for Today on the cards now they’ve bedded down the new hosting line up, very much needed IMO.

If Alex is presenting Today Early News, that’s does all but confirm his place as newsreader on the show when Brooke leaves?
It would be odd if he presents one news bulletin on Today and then the rest is done by someone else (in the long term).
It’s like Edwina presenting Sunrise 5am news but then she’s relegated to only entertainment thereafter during Sunrise? Thoughts?
