Nine Network - Programs and Schedules

Nine programming probably thought “well actually, this isn’t going to get us good share and a chance at beating Seven, not with BH&G and a DC Comics movie premiere which will do great demos especially male”?

So found a movie, indeed a new one for them albeit umteenth repeat, that’ll surely do a great number (based of previous but excluding the last one on SBS) but heavily rely on older audiences and women.

Maybe but I don’t know why anyone would want to watch a movie on Free to Air TV with millions of ads. Especially one they have seen many times before.

If I want to watch a movie on free-to-air I always record it or watch it on at least an hour delay so I can fast forward through the ads. Generally the only commercial television programs I watch as they go to air are the news programs.

From Wednesday 10 October at 8.30pm

The gripping new US mystery drama series Manifest premieres Wednesday, October 10, at 8.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

Manifest, the biggest new show to launch in America with 10.4 million viewers , explores the intersecting lives and mystery surrounding a planeload of people trapped in a bizarre time warp when their flight lands – forcing them to rebuild their shattered world and discover the ultimate purpose that is their destiny.

When Montego Air Flight 828 lands safely after a turbulent flight, the crew and passengers are relieved. But within those hours onboard, the world outside ages five years, the plane is presumed lost at sea, and mourning family, friends and colleagues of the passengers and crew give up hope of finding them.

Faced with the impossible realisation that everyone believed they were dead, the 191 passengers on Flight 828 are all given a second chance at life. But when their new realities become clear, a deeper mystery unfolds and some of them realise that they may be destined for something greater than they could ever imagine.

Manifest follows the lives of the fractured Stone family who were on board Flight 828 the day it disappeared: Michaela ( Melissa Roxburgh ), her brother Ben ( Josh Dallas ) and Cal ( Jack Messina ), Ben’s terminally ill 10-year-old son with only months to live.

As stories unfold through the lens of the Stone family and the other passengers wrestling with their interrupted lives and relationships, the US government continues to investigate the bizarre anomaly of Flight 828.

Manifest is produced by Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Jeff Rake.

Manifest sounds a lot like HBO’s The Leftovers.

From Sunday 7 October at 4:30pm

Helloworld , Australia’s new premium travel program, premieres this Sunday with a foodie tour of France and Italy and a canoe ride in Canada’s Rocky Mountains, at 4.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

Sonia Kruger checks out the beauty of the Canadian Rockies, beginning her sightseeing trip at spectacular Lake Louise , where she finds one of the most peaceful ways to enjoy the lake – by canoe. To escape from the cold, Sonia pops into the luxurious Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise , whose famous guests have included Queen Elizabeth and Alfred Hitchcock, for their famous fondue.

If you’re in need of a tropical holiday, Bec Hewitt has the perfect place in mind right here in Queensland: Hamilton Island , the world-class destination in the Whitsundays. Bec’s day begins at the Beach Club , a beachside resort on the shores of Catseye Beach . After a tour of the accommodation options which include stunning views of the Coral Sea, she grabs a bite to eat at the local family favourite, Manta Ray .

Comedian Vince Sorrenti travels to France and Italy for the ultimate foodie tour. Stohrer , the oldest patisserie in Paris, is first on his list for a delicious chocolate éclair, then it’s off to the La Fermette fromagerie for some cow milk cheese and A la Mere de Famille , the City of Love’s famous chocolatier, for scrumptious hand-crafted treats. Vince then crosses the border to Orvieto in Italy for a pasta-making masterclass where he can’t resist trying the final product.

This week we also find Stevie Jacobs in Port Vila , the breathtaking capital of Vanuatu, exploring the best this beachside city has to offer. He learns about the cultural delights of the area at the Ekasup Cultural Village before visiting Hideaway Island , an island surrounded by stunning marine wildlife that includes the world’s only underwater post office!

Helloworld encores nationally on 9Life on Wednesday at 12:30pm and Sunday at 11:00am

I can hardly contain my excitement for Bec Hewitt’s return to television.

And the swap to Mamma Mia did nothing for Nine’s ratings, rating below 266k and not making the top 20 program list.

Where’s the NRL test match?

That game is played in Auckland, so if its played at 7:00pm Auckland time, it may screen at 5pm on Nine or maybe on GEM at whatever time. Does anyone know if its a day time match in Auckland or a night time game?

7:45 Auckland time. 5:45 AEDST

So unless this is for all states except NSW/QLD, then it is likely only screening on GEM

Yep, guides now confirming 9Gem nationally (at this stage - seems strange for Sydney and Brisbane though, but obviously prioritising Nine News?)

I guess that they might have decided to keep National Nine News Nationally instead of shifting it to say 4:00pm or 4:30pm on the main channel in Sydney only, noting that QLD being 1 hour behind could have easily aired National Nine News straight after the coverage around 7pm. Probably easier from a programming perspective. That said maybe Nine will let people know at 5:30pm that the test is on GEM with kick off at 5:45pm AEDST.

Maybe Nine could offer a 4:00pm News on GEM in Brisbane

As at least 2.5 hours of the telecast is in prime time in Sydney (1.5 for Brisbane) and should rate well, 9Gem should pull big shares in those markets, bumping up 9Gem’s share for the night.
