Probably none. The stories are indicating duplicated admin staff and executives.
Theyāre saying no newsroom mergers. But of course, 2 years down the track expect an announcement that some news rooms/bureaus will merge etc.
Itād be sad if that happened, but I agree itās probably inevitable. Locally, Iād be surprised if Nine werenāt at least thinking about the prospect of having the TV & SMH newsrooms under one roof when they move to North Sydney.
Hopefully in two years time weāll have a Network 10 willing to beef up their news service and an ABC with more money, although this is probably very wishful thinking.
Tomorrow i look forward to the new nine starting as a company with former Fairfax owned enterties IE MacQuarie Media Limited< The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, the Australiuan Financial Review, Domain Group & others
I have been a strong supporter of t merger between Fairfax & Nne and since the conformation on the merger last i have been looking forward with antisapation to December 10th when the new Nne start as a company now all I can say is i wish the new Nine Entertainment Company all the best
First business day is tomorrow but it actually started as a merged company yesterday, hence the disclosures (āThe Sydney Morning Herald is owned by Nine Entertainmentā) on certain SMH articles have already appeared.
So has Fairfax fully ceased to exist, or has it just become a subsidiary of NEC?
How many of the Channel nine Sports Talent wili Macuarie Sports Radio use as Fill ins on their Programs?
Why would they want to be associated with that train wreck?
Ray Warren & others because TripleM dropped rush Hour in Sydney & Brisbane Rush Hour might have been dropped from Triplem Melbourne also might have to come MacQuarie Sports Radio
Well if presenters have lost their job at Nine or Triple M or whatever other media outlet, then they would be happy with any job, anywhere. But if they already had a job, they wouldnāt give that up for Macquarie Sports Radio.
MacQuarie Medya is now owned by Nine Entertainment if anyone of Nineās S[ports talent end up at Macquarie Sports Radio,. much of the MacQuarie Sports Radio Talent (thise niot currently with channel 9) will be signed by Cannel 8 asx will as MacQuarie Sports Radio this is how the Talent will be shared between Channel None & MacQyarue Sports radio
the STdney Trip,e Breakfast team is no no ;pmer at TripleM Sydneythey could be the first frim thye triple Network to cime ti MacQtyarue Sports Radio.
Triple M Sydney wonāt lose the rest of their breakfast team now that Matty Johns has wrapped up. Itās also not the style of show that Macquarie would be interested in
I agree, @AustralianAerial. Also, the prospect of Matthew Johns ever being employed by Nine again seems highly unlikely.
Pro tip: Make sure your spelling and grammar makes sense before you hit reply.
And yes, Iāll admit that Iām not perfect 100% of the time but stillā¦
Oh yeah, thereās that too.
Iām of the view that weāre likely to see some crossover between WWOS and MSR, but I doubt itāll be instantaneous - perhaps after the cricket ends, itād be a good time if ever for a refresh.
Bruce Guthrie, who formerly edited The Age, predicts thereāll be big changes in the new year.
Mr Guthrie, who went on to start The New Daily, says Nine could look to sell off its regional newspapers in the coming months.
āI think the early noises are that they donāt want to be in that business, so may best guess is that they will offload at least some of it, if not all of it, and weāll just wait with interest to see who lines up to be a buyer,ā Mr Guthrie said.
There goes The Age! Soon to become IMO a crap newspaper like right wing Herald Sun. Sad day for journalism in Australia.
The Age wrote an editorial for todayās edition, reinforcing its charter of editorial independence, on its first day of Nineās ownership.
Imagine the concern theyād be communicating in editorials if they were writing about a Seven/News Corp merger.
