The “Other Stations” share this survey is at 25.0%, up 0.8 from last survey.
Might as well turn off the TX now if you’re 2HD or 2NC.
I can’t understand why New FM can’t seem to work out how to compete in this market.
Surely the penny will drop one day they need to shift their music offering to either AC or rock. Something to differentiate themselves from Hit and Triple M. They need to break away from the SRN “network” and give the market something it’s lacking. It’s really baffling why they don’t actually do something different.
Agreed. Maybe someone at New FM could fly up to the Gold Coast and pay some cash to meet with the music director of Hot Tomato. I know that the emms on the Gold Coast has a different log / playlist to the emms in Newcastle but New needs some advice on how to confront, tackle and beat the SCA duopoly of Hit and MMM.
Maybe our Novacastrians could start a GoFundMe so someone from New can travel to the Gold Coast?
I don’t know what to hit reset on first? NewFM’s programs? Or its 20yr too late JackFM format?
And when is SRN going to axe 2HD’s local drive show and just take the Network feed if it’s rating so poorly?
I wouldn’t trust this survey for any important decisions - the age demo shares are just wacky - huge shifts that have no sense to them,
- 10-17 has a 10.7% net drop of share with only Triple J up by something over a point.
- 40-54 saw a net drop of 8.3%, away from Hit/JJJ with no boost to Triple M/New
- -9.9 in 18-24 for New
- That Triple M are the somehow the top station for 18-24 and 55-64?
- ABC Newcastle losing 2/3s of their 55-64 audience?
All of that share movement, yet cume totals are unmoved, despite each station losing a lot individually. I suck at math, but none of this adds up???
Please note: Survey results include listening via streaming to ABC, 102.9 Triple M, Hit 106.9 for both survey periods and 2HD & 105.3 NEWFM for 8 weeks.
Wonder if finally being in streaming ratings helped 2HD/New much. I don’t think a player button on a website really works - you’d need to be in an app so you get decent playback controls and easy access to really make a dent, but I suppose it might be on some smart speakers?
A diabolical survey for NEW FM .
When you listen to them it’s not surprising. The announcers on Breakfast and Drive are appalling.
But when you look at who is at the top, is it really a shock ?
