Newcastle Radio

It’s not perfect but now everything is right with the world. Or at least it should be.Wesgo News

It’s a combo of 2WS and 2GO when I got a chance to get a clean recording.

love that one but I was referring to the even older one with the sweeping piano at the start. The ending if you sing it goes with “2 Double You Essss”

Thanks for that!

That’s one of my all time favourite radio news themes!

dudes and dudettes:

I bought an FM transmitter bluetooth device off ebay because my work bus’ bluetooth is completely and utterly dead.

Just wondering if anyone around the Newwy/Hunter area has recently scanned for an open frequency that can be tuned for the music streaming/phone calls etc that I will be doing … I was thinking now NBN is gone, around the 90-93 area would be the best bet?

Beers and cheers.

There would be a few you could use.

But my bet for virtually eliminating any chance of co-channeling during even summer months would be

89.5

There is only a low power ABC station in Goulburn that uses that frequency anywhere near here, and on either side there are only low power Sydney community stations.

thanks mate! I tried 89.3 but no matter what I just keep getting the hiss in the background when playing music or talking on the phone. Frustrating!

That might indicate that the transmitter is not putting out a strong enough signal.

I’ve noticed for a little while now, but majority ad jingles you here in Newcastle are done by the same people.

Tanya Wilks & Steve Graham have cemented KOFM as their home for another four years. The duo have

been on KOFM breakfast together since 2014 and in that time they have further strengthened their

position as #1 breakfast show in Newcastle, claiming a 19.4% share of the market in survey 2, 2016*.

“The people of Newcastle love Tanya & Steve and it shows in their outstanding results. We are thrilled

they have re-signed and are a part of KOFM for the next 4 years,” Northern NSW Regional General

Manager Ashley Myatt said.

“Tanya and Steve are quite obviously a huge part of the fabric of Newcastle radio separately. I’m

delighted they’ll be on air TOGETHER for at least another 4 years!”, KOFM Group Content Director Mike

Byrne said.

Following their re-signing Tanya & Steve couldn’t be more excited to continue dominating on the radio

waves together.

“There was no way they were moving into that fancy pants new building without us,” Steve said.

“Of course we re-signed. It was a no brainer. Best job in the best city… and the fact that we didn’t get a

call back from our auditions for The Voice,” Tanya said

Tanya & Steve’s final show for 2016 will be on 9 December and they will re-commence on 23 January

  1. Executive producer, Nicole Levey, and anchor, Ryan Stuart, will continue by their side.

New FM are currently doing their ‘Best 1000’ countdown, which you can see the list (up to #489) here: http://www.newfm.com.au/best-1000-countdown/

It usually means a format change, then again it is JackF… I mean NewFM.

Weird situation today while listening to the American Top 40 on 2NUR FM today. Normally they don’t go to the news during that broadcast but did today

I’ve just noticed that New FM is now streaming online, which can be accessed via their website.

It’s also listed on TuneIn, but not on RadioApp. That now means for the first time, all three Newcastle commercial FM stations are streaming online.

Good heavens, what next!

Perhaps NEW FM might actually get around to using RDS someday soon.

Should I break the hearts of these novacastrians who said they’d prefer a red and blue logo over the new logo. (Posted on T&S Facebook page saying how much they “loved the new logo”

Yes you should

If that were NBN they’d put a cover up over my comment.

Push “post”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone driven through Newcastle and seen the ridiculous Hit 106.9 billboard with the most obtuse liner going?

Think Newcastle, think NXFM/Hit 106.9 audience, they don’t care for the whimsical dreaming of some cap city ad agency that has no idea what is needed in such a market.

Great to have slick marketing, but so slick it misses the mark? Not necessary.
