A comment on Facebook is claiming that HGTV is being closed and content will be moving to Eden.

Take that with a grain of salt of course…

Yearning for the days where new channels weren’t just “platform name + genre” and there was a bit more effort in the presentation.
Obviously no money in it now that everything is shifting to streaming and there’s no way it will ever happen but I just wish that wasn’t the case.

Dunno about shifting content, but going behind paywalls could be on the cards for HGTV. It’s ratings must be abysmal with a LCN out in the boonies.

Wow? Sky really is consolidating it’s FTA channels. This is the part of ownership and consolation change that I hate. Such a shame considering HGTV was about to reach 10 years on air.

HGTV is a brand owned by WBD. I assume it’s all part of that and them leaving/setting up HBOMax in NZ.

I suspected something like this was going to happen, a few of the shows on HGTV aren’t even streaming on ThreeNow anymore, they’ll probably end up on HBO Max like other countries. A lot of HGTV content airs on Three during off-peak anyway

The Post has reported that Television New Zealand has confirmed that it has discussed acquiring the rights to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest in the country. A spokesperson told the outlet that “We’ve assessed the opportunity but not moved forward.” With regards to participation in the competition, they also confirmed that the broadcaster has not examined participation, adding: “we would need to weigh up the financial impact and logistical requirements against audience interest”

Good point though worth noting WBD have closed the UK HGTV channel year.

TVNZ must be wary of The Traitors… they bumped Country Calendar last night (so bringing Trophy Homes NZ & Brokenwood forward half an hour). I don’t remember them doing that before.

Doing something similar tonight, but Seven Sharp never airs on Public Holidays, so that’s not entirely unexpected.

The Country Calendar bit on TVNZ+ said off to King’s Birthday - but yeah I’d have to go back and check to see whether it has been off in previous years.

The good news is that Dot earned a white apron in last night’s episode and would join the top 24.

From June 7, MasterChef Australia will also be shown on Sunday nights at around 8.30pm, making it four nights a week like the Australian broadcast pattern.

Edit: profiles of the top 24 contestants. Be careful when you visit their Instagram accounts, as they include photos and videos from this season yet to be seen across the Tasman.

Tonight marks the end of an era in New Zealand satellite television as HBO ends its near-exclusive distribution of programs to Sky after over 15 years. The HBO channel (formerly SoHo) will close at midnight tonight, concluding with a marathon of House of the Dragon S2, fitting considering its parent series was one of the main draws of the channel when it first arrived. HBO programming, including the HBO Max tile on Neon, will also be removed at this time in preparation for the standalone launch of Max tomorrow.

After its closure, Living will be moved up into the channel 10 space from 12:30am. The channel itself has already been symbolically replaced by Sky Drama, which launched earlier this month and features a mixture of programming from several providers.
