New Zealand Radio

I think that package ran for quite some time but I may be wrong.
The 2010 revamp made the station sound about 20 years ‘younger’ though I reckon. Really rejuvenated it.

Here them all the time on ZM as well as Coast and the The Hits.

ZB does Coast ads as well.
It’s all about keeping the listener on Iheart or NZME, rather than Spotify. If they do that it’s a win.

Very similar to what Rova is doing to magic..keeping magic as an online station only I certainly enjoyed gold

Along with the Newstalk ZB news imaging refresh, TimeSaver Traffic has also been updated. This is the first refresh of the TST bed in years (I think!)

NEW

OLD

So they went from an imaging that you could link to traffic (the whoosh and the beeps) to a few notes at the top that simply made no sense.

Yeah, definitely prefer the old bed.

This is a bit after-the-fact now, but I think the storm passing over Auckland this afternoon may have impacted National Radio’s AM transmitter (756kHz). In the middle of the 5 o’clock news, I heard a crackle and then nothing but static.

Oddly, this didn’t seem to impact any other AM stations - ZB stayed online as did the BBC World Service.

I checked later on and it was all restored before the 7 o’clock news.

Here is a mix of the refreshed ZB News top of hour intro - and the variations currently on rotate.

There’s also a 2-note sonic for the News Fix podcast, which is a different variation to the 3-note sonic used on air.

Ash posted on Instagram that her show would premiere on Edge on January 19.

Maybe tied into the storm last night (or maybe not) the transmitter will be undergoing some maintenance starting tomorrow:

Nice to see Mediaworks embracing AI slop…The Breeze 38,5 FM

Why use AI for this? Not that hard for a pleb to make in Canva.

That’s a long way to the left on the FM band

Not too long with that role, Renee Wright now the station voice.

After 21 years, the last Matinee Idle, starts today from about 12:30 NZDT on RNZ.

And somewhat belatedly, RNZ has an article too…
