If I posted some of the emails my boss wrote this email would sound like a love letter :joy:

Same!

Re BBL

“In some ways, we’ve dodged a bullet because what’s proven now is that the audience has become extremely fragmented across both platforms but when you add them both together they’re significantly back on last year. Which is really just a shame for cricket,” Mr Anderson said.

He literally used the term “there will be serious consequences”. If that’s not a threat I don’t know what is!

The moles who are leaking the information should be sacked and lose their entitlements for breach of contract. That happens in my industry so why shouldn’t it happen in television.

Most bosses use these words.

And of course there’s going to be consequences, they shouldn’t be doing what they’re doing.

And?!? Breach confidentiality and suffer the consequences. It’s pretty clear, if I went disclosing information for the company I work for I’d be in trouble too.

@blackbox as a former employee of 10 was there contracts you signed about confidentiality? Just curious. I know I have signed something in my work but obviously I’m not in the media industry but there is so many things I can’t tell people or would face consequences. Maybe others that have worked for a network could tell me whether networks make employees sign confidentiality contracts.

I don’t really blame them for being a bit pissed. The last few months so many leaks have come out of 10. I thought they were intentional but now after that article I wonder if they were.

Absolutely. I’ve had to sign a 70 page contract. This includes an internet policy that says my actions on the internet must not cause damage to the company I work for. The contract also mentions several times I must not disclose company information.

Agree!

I don’t think it’s a threat. It’s part of every contract you sign within a company no matter the job.
He has every right to say why he did. I’m surprised it wasn’t worse.

This is just another case of “media” sensationalising things for views.

Not really a threat. Bosses set expectations for their employees as well contractual obligations so it’s pretty fair to say that to staff. Not really an issue.

If I got that email, I’d view it as a threat, regardless of whether it was already in my contract or not.

While hunting for leakers is not exactly uncommon in media, @blackbox has written an even handed article imho.

It’s absolutely a threat, but I wouldn’t say it’s an unjustified threat. The terminology used in that email is no different to most contracts.
Not an issue for staff who have done the right thing.

I agree it’s not unjustified. But it’s still a threat.

This is a really interesting read so thanks for posting.

I do think the cricket might have done slightly better on 10 than it did on 7 and Foxtel. So I am sure 10 would have been happy if they did get the rights.

I did like how he was trying to say the enemy or the competition isn’t the other networks its the likes of Netflix and Youtube etc. I wish other networks would take that lead and stop programming to harm their competitors. For example 7 launching Orange is the new brown against How to Stay Married.

well then if 10 wants to compete with the likes of netfix and the same with the other networks , they will need a huge budget to get people of from watching netflix and watching standard tv

I don’t think that is what he is alluding to. I think he is saying that all networks should be offering great entertainment shows and stop seeing one another as the enemy and rather than trying to sabotage one another support, especially local producations, one another.

Network 10’s partnership with Lotame follows recently announced partnerships with real-time data customer solutions company Tealium and data technology agency Venntifact.

Although 10 might not be seeing benefits at the moment. I do believe they will come 12 months. Their presence is dominating through the cities, especially in Melbourne and Adelaide (I actually cannot comment about the others as I haven’t been there in a while). Everywhere you go you see something promoting 10 or its brand. Just on Monday I saw Dancing plastered everywhere now today I am seeing 10 All Access. The brand is definitely not hiding like it once was.

I get around Brisbane and surrounds a fair bit for work and consistently see more promotion of Stan than any general 10 or 10 All Access campaign activity combined.

Hopefully that will change in the coming months however.
