Well give her a break. Lisa wasn’t exactly a brilliant “future Today host” on Beuaty and the Beast, nor Samantha when she was at Sky.
Hasnt she been doing this sort od thing for years?
Georgia was previously the host of Win News Tasmania, she’s not exactly new to reading an autoscript. When I’ve seen her fill in for Sarah in the past I’ve thought she was okay, she starts reporting for Ten in Melbourne next week also.
A couple more interesting reports from the CBS Q3 conference, including a cheeky attempt at a logo (source unknown).
He (CEO Les Moonves) said CBS looks to Australia to duplicate its three-pronged broadcast/cable/streaming success it’s had in the United States, first with the addition of Network Ten followed by the southern hemisphere launch of CBS All Access.
“In addition to owning one of the Big 3 broadcasters in Australia, this acquisition will also give us control over our content across all forms of distribution in that market,” Moonves said.

“At CBS All Access, we are benefiting from the 1-2 punch of a full season of the NFL and the launch of Star Trek: Discovery and the results have been phenomenal,” Moonves said. “Star Trek Discovery, in particular, has been a game-changer. The U.S. premiere episode led to new records in All Access signups in a single week and in the show’s second week, we topped that record once again.”

The takeaway from the above is the emphasis on CBS All Access as a product and a brand. They will want subscriptions in Australia and they may use a two-punch Sport + Niche Drama to feed them.
Also
Beyond genre programming, CBSAA will be adding two 24-hour streaming news and information services: CBSN, a 24-hour live news network, and CBS Sports HQ, according to Ianiello.
Thanks JSP
I assume that CBS All Access getting CBSN is just the current CBSN online news… no change.
Just available within the CBS interface??
Yes.
You can stream CBSN via their CBS Apple TV app if you’re impatient. Maybe they’ll do an Aussie version, who knows.
I think it’s safe to say, based on these reports, they’ll use the CBS All Access branding down here (ie. not Tenplay) but the jury is out if they change the TEN broadcast brand, which they’ve previously praised.
CBS registered the “CBS All Access” trademark with IP Australia last week. It’s going to be interesting to see how they marry the CBS and TEN brands now that it appears certain CBS branding will be part of TEN’s future in one way or another.
This isn’t the first time the CBS brand has been used in Australia. CBS Records, the international arm of CBS’s Columbia Records, was a prominent brand in Australia for many years. I remember studying the logos on album sleeves as I listened to vinyl records as a child. Even at a young age I was somehow aware that the CBS brand was huge and was also associated with television.
Hopefully they at least change the call sign of the Adelaide station to CBS.
Why’s that?
The Adelaide callsign is ADS (The Advertiser South Australia). I think @Moe thinks that because the last letter is ‘s’, they can change the first two letters so the callsign will be ‘CBS’.
The callsigns will almost certainly NOT be changed. Callsigns don’t get magically changed when there are new owners. The best case was during aggregation when licence areas merged.

Owners of radio licences can apply to get their call signs changed. I assume the same the same would apply for TV.
However I agree it probably won’t happen - call signs are basically used nowhere other than a few internal systems, so it’s unlikely that anyone would care. Plus, if it got changed, and they changed internal systems to reflect the change, it could get confusing having CBS mean both the network/owner and the Adelaide station.
I think CBS will have more important things to worry about than a silly call sign. Ten have a lot of problems least of which is an innocuous and irrelevant call sign.

I suspect the original post was possibly made in jest as a play on the new owner’s name and the call-sign protocol that exists with television.
However there are examples of call-signs in television getting changed at the behest of management and not just due to changing licencing parameters such as aggregation. It happens rarely in television because call-signs are so inconsequential and are really just an administrative tool internally and with the broadcasting authority, but it has happened.

One can have some fun with the IP Australia site. I notice “Drop The Mic” was recently registered.
Re: changing callsigns - really you’d only get away with changing Adelaide’s.
CBN - used by Prime7 in Southern NSW.
CBQ - not used, but why would you change it.
CBV - not used, but why would you change it.
CBS - not used, you could get away with it, but again, why?
CBW - not used, but why would you change it.
And for the sake of it…
CBD - pass.
CBT - nah.
CBC - Heh, would only confuse Canadians thinking their public broadcaster got a channel in Canberra.

It would be extremely confusing if all callsigns were changed to this. The advantage of different callsigns is they can easily be distinguished at a glance.
The Australian is claiming that among the guests at the Ten upfronts on Thursday could be Armando Nuñez, president and CEO of CBS Studios International, and Leslie Moonves, chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation. It’s speculated that Moonves will fly into Sydney on Wednesday night.
Having the CEO of CBS Corp there would be massive.
Has anyone seen this before? An ABN associated with an Individual/Sole Trader called “Cahal Brian Small” (initials C.B.S.) has registered several domain names. They recently updated their records with business name “CBS All Access” on 4 November.
In addition to the cbsten.com.au and tencbs.com.au, other domains include cbseleven.com.au, cbsone.com.au, cbssport.com.au…I would try looking up a few more, but my IP address has been blacklisted for making too many requests.
