Netflix muscles in on Youtube property with Hot Ones spinoff
Netflix is bringing viral Youtube interview series Hot Ones to its platform, unveiling a new spin-off, Hot Ones: Extra Heat, set to premiere on July 13.
The Netflix series is a scaled-up spin-off of the original Hot Ones interview format, which launched on Youtube in 2015, hosted by Sean Evans. The original show has 437 episodes to date.
The Extra Heat spinoff will be filmed on location at big Netflix-associated events, for example live sports events or a premiere, to produce a series of 30-minute specials.
The Youtube version of the series will continue to produce regular content alongside the Netflix partnership.
Friends is back on Netflix after exiting the streamer when Max, now HBO MAX, launched in Australia.
