During the Footy Show
Agreed. A special bulletin - itâs not every day this happens and would really solidify that they are âthere for the communityâ - even if the new owners arenât.
Natasha did a fantastic job on 9 News - so calm, measured and natural - a style that only comes with decades of experience.
Adam and Montanna have been doing great as well. Funny - when the 9 network needs NBN they come calling. I doubt WIN will be paying their wages for all this overtime ![]()
Hopefully they are getting time in lieu for it at least.
Iâd assume theyâre all still under a Nine EBA/award so the pay conditions wouldnât be any different to what they were on before?
I recall reading/hearing that NBN staff had to reapply for their jobs under WIN (which Jane chose not to do) so I assume theyâre under WINs salary scale and conditions etc.
Jakob Funk did a report on the Gold Coast Suns AFLW game for sport.
Is he with Nine Gold Coast News now? I think I remember him working at QTQ Brisbane.
Itâs insane thatâs legal.
Not all that uncommon in enterprise or government when redundancies happen. But if you have 4 positions available and 6 existing people how would you choose? Based on seniority? Ask for volunteers and then seniority if not enough people volunteer itâs difficult either way I think seniority is the fairest noone should have to reapply for their jobs.
Those days are nearly gone (if not already). Networks are now pushing more senior employees out the door and retaining the younger, cheaper staff. And to be fair, younger people often bring fresh ideas and tend to be more receptive to embracing new technologies. Thatâs exact what the networks want when theyâre in multitasking and cost cutting mode.
No news boss wants an Andy who has been at the company for 30 years, has his head stuck in the 90s, wants every weekend, public holiday and Christmas off, wonât stay back 30 minutes to help out, encourages employees to report the smallest of OH&S issues, pushes back at younger colleagues for driving the pace of change, and endlessly complains about new workflows or technology.
This has been standard since the adoption of the live camera backdrop. During the winter months they have it pointed towards the GrainCorp silos and the eastern end of the CBD, then when daylight savings hits, they point it towards Nobbyâs Lighthouse like they have here.
Natasha interviewed Jimmy Barnes during tonights news on her laptop.
Would have looked a lot better if she was looking at one the fake screens on the set with Jimmy projected onto that.. Iâm guessing thatâs not possible?
Even a split screen wouldâve looked better than what they did ![]()
It was a pre-record package rather than a live or look-live interview, so it was largely file vision of him performing and his side of the Zoom call.
Yes I know that, but still think it could have been done better.
