Also, with the windows, I reckon they’d bring it down to three inline with the old license areas pre-aggreation - Newcastle/Central Coast, New England/Manning River (old 9-8 TV area) and Northern Rivers/Gold Coast (old NRTV area).
People find new jobs, yeah, got to put food on the table.
I think they may go a step further and have the old NBN region with the old ECN area and the old NRN region with the old NEN area and produce a half hour local news bulletin. I think they will slip filler stories from other areas within northern NSW region or if they adopt Nine branding, insert national stories. I think a half hour bulletin before a 1 hour National Nine News bulletin weekdays is inevitable. I also think weekend bulletins will be cut from the NBN roster.
Gavin leaving has finally been mentioned on air, about 3 weeks after it happened. 20 seconds at the end of the bulletin.
Why did they even bother. Seems more like an insult to do it so late.
Have noticed towards the end of the 4pm Sydney Nine News, the references to the 6pm bulletins are now generic, so instead of “Here’s whats coming up in tonight’s Nine News at 6 with Peter Overton” it’s now just “Here’s what’s coming up in tonight’s news at 6”…
And at the end of the 4pm bulletin, it’s now just “Your next news bulletin is at 6” instead of “Your next bulletin is Nine News with Peter Overton at 6”.
Seems to be a very recent change.. possibly done to suit NBN News?
I would assume so, yes. Hearing 9News with Peter Overton in places like Newcastle and Taree would’ve confused and even alienated viewers as they in those regions have become accustomed to their news service over the years i.e NBN News.
I reckon people were contacting Nine’s head office via phone or email and complaining about the 9News Peter Overton mention instead of NBN News, worried their news services were being very much ignored.
Haha oh yeah maybe even writing letters too.
“Dear Sir, I find myself most confused at the mention of this mystery man at the conclusion of the afternoon news bulletin.”
The mailroom would have been overflowing with similar correspondence.

Good on him… he was on NEW FM in it’s early days too.
I just saw a story of a guy named Art Ryan who passed away last week. Ryan appeared in local programming including NBNs Breakfast Show and a program called Beating Around The Bush.
In a way I find the story a slap in the face considering the lack of local programming produced these days.
I reckon Mr Ryan isn’t too happy about it, either
