Agreed. A special bulletin - it’s not every day this happens and would really solidify that they are “there for the community” - even if the new owners aren’t. ---

Natasha did a fantastic job on 9 News - so calm, measured and natural - a style that only comes with decades of experience. Adam and Montanna have been doing great as well. Funny - when the 9 network needs NBN they come calling. I doubt WIN will be paying their wages for all this overtime 😂 ---

I’d assume they’re all still under a Nine EBA/award so the pay conditions wouldn’t be any different to what they were on before? ---

I recall reading/hearing that NBN staff had to reapply for their jobs under WIN (which Jane chose not to do) so I assume they’re under WINs salary scale and conditions etc. ---

Not all that uncommon in enterprise or government when redundancies happen. But if you have 4 positions available and 6 existing people how would you choose? Based on seniority? Ask for volunteers and then seniority if not enough people volunteer it’s difficult either way I think seniority is the fairest noone should have to reapply for their jobs. ---

Networks are now pushing more senior employees out the door and retaining the younger, cheaper staff. And to be fair, younger people often bring fresh ideas and tend to be more receptive to embracing new technologies. No news boss wants an Andy who has been at the company for 30 years, has his head stuck in the 90s, wants every weekend, public holiday and Christmas off, won’t stay back 30 minutes to help out, encourages employees to report the smallest of OH&S issues, pushes back at younger colleagues for driving the pace of change, and endlessly complains about new workflows or technology. ---

During the winter months they have it pointed towards the GrainCorp silos and the eastern end of the CBD, then when daylight savings hits, they point it towards Nobby’s Lighthouse like they have here. ---
