The premiere of the new House Rules Season saw Seven post an improved share but is wasn’t enough to beat Nine either in main channel or network shares. Nine won in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with Seven won Brisbane and Perth. Seven was beaten by ABC in Melbourne. Nine also easily won the key demographic groups.

Seven strangely coded the launch episode of House Rules into two segments, the highest with 679,000 viewers. That compares to 785,000 for the 2019 season. It was ahead of the 2018 launch and behind other years.

Seven News topped the night in a tight battle with Nine while ABC News topped 1 million again at 7pm The one hour edition of A Current Affair was down 150-200k on recent early week results. While The Project won the timeslot in key demos, ACA swas behind Hiuse Rules. The Project 6.30 hit a 2020 high.

Some small mercies in the ABC defeating Seven on the main channel. Good that Nine with their woeful line up held up. As expected 10 were shithouse and should’ve premiered Masterchef last night.

House Rules also performing poorly in the demos as well.

House Rules strangely always does well in this market for some reason.

Didn’t smash it like married or survivor - but it was the #1 non news show in 25-54 and the only non-news show in the Top 10

This may ultimately help H&A and ultimately 7News in Brisbane.

But I do not think poor quality programming should be rewarded.

not a bad launch for HR, but given the efforts to sex it up a bit - still nowhere to be seen in the demos

Is that House Rules figure a better figure than the MKR launch?

I really think 10 need to look at extending The Project during this time. Whether its just once a week or until 8pm every night. Or just on Saturdays.

Would that be the 7pm portion? I think 7 is still looking for alternatives for Home and Away. Reality or news.

That’s because it was across an hour, not 30 minutes as it has been in past weeks.

No I think its just because Home and Away had a break. And with both the latest and house rules not really doing much better I think its safe to say they shouldn’t remove Home and Away anyway.

Has The Chase been spilt into 5pm and 5:30 now?

It and Hot Seat (since it went to 1 hour) always have been

Not bad figures for the launch of House Rules.
The Latest suffered a big drop from last week and fell out of the top 20.

House Rules usually starts off weak, but seems to grow its audience overtime.

It does. But it was pretty soft all year round last year (if I remember right). And I think it used to grow on the back of AFL on Sundays.

The Today Tonight brand has been absent on the east cost for a number of years now, and it had become pretty toxic in the year or two before that happened.

ACA must be worried that it was beaten by house rules

Just to clarify, they only beat them in a demo. I don’t think it is a cause for concern.

Not so much the last 2 years however, and this is against no competition for launch, time will tell.
