#2

MasterChef moves ahead of House Rules again but it stays ahead of Have You Been Paying Attention?

Nine will be somewhat relieved Talkin’ 'Bout Your Generation went up on last week’s poor effort.

#3

MasterChef, House Rules, HYBPA and Four Corners all fell from last week.
Ten’s 5pm bulletin hit the 500,000 mark after hovering around mid-400,000 for the past few months.
Very close in Adelaide between MC, House Rules, Talkin’ 'Bout Your Generation and 7.30/Australian Story. In fact Australian Story beat the commercial offerings.

#4

ONE over 4%, Top multi-channel. That’s fantastic for Ten. Best regular programming share so far this survey I think? Every episode of NCIS made the Top 20 too, including the 10:30pm episode!

#5

Home and Away 4th in total people at 7pm in Melbourne.

The axes at HSV are sharpening…

#6

Really? It’s a 30 year old program and highly doubtful anything else could do similar numbers. They could move it to 7TWO but the audience would erode as Neighbours’ did. I don’t think anything Ten has had at 6.30 since Neighbours moved to Eleven has done what Neighbours did.

The creative team behind Home and Away need to do some market research and work out what they need to do in order to get viewers back or connecting for the first time. Whoever Seven employs to promote it should also be given some direction. Why, for example, has a single tweet been sent to the 86,000 people that follow the show on Twitter since early May? Wouldn’t it make sense to use that channel to promote the show and the cast? There’s also a couple of hundred thousand people that follow it on Instagram and they don’t promote daily episodes often. Compare to ACA and Project…

#7

Apparently Ray Meagher has taken a break from the show while he appears on the stage version of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He was recently asked whether he would be going back to Home and Away and his response was that he’s not sure because the market had changed and he was unsure about the future of the show.

#8

Everything on ABC dropped this week with 4 Corners down 130,000 seeing the biggest fall.

The Mentor ranked 22nd and Q&A 23rd.

This episode of House Rules last year had 1.27 million - ouch! The Voice that night (29 May) had 947,000 and MasterChef could only manage 11th place with 765,000. Also on that night Seven Year Switch had 660,000!

#9

Interesting. Who’d he say that to? I thought he’d transition out in a part time capacity like Ian Smith and Tom Oliver did on Neighbours.

#10

It is a good result. Makes you wonder why they didn’t have an episode at 7:30 as well.

#11

But neither have been on Neighbours in a significant role for a long time now.

#12

Should be stripping the series across ONE every night IMO, at least one episode maybe around 7:30pm (earliest when “M” content can air) and it’d be a much, much better lead-in for ONE’s other regular programs.

#13

Agree the franchise along with SVU should be milked more on ONE.

#14

I can’t see that happening. The show has always done worse in Melbourne than Sydney and I can’t see the axe coming if it’s just Melbourne where it’s lagging.

#15

Fitzy and Wippa told the story last week following a conversation with him.

#16

Yep, NCIS, SVU and whatever else they still have rights/access to that they can re-run.

Wonder if they could re-run SVU sister Criminal Intent? Nine now have re-run rights to both Law & Order and SVU (Ten recently acquired CSI: Miami and CSI: NY).

Police/crime procedurals seem to be a hit on multi-channels, boosted by older audiences though. Lewis, Morse, Frost, Criminal Minds, Bones, Midsomers being others.

#17

Melbourne programmers are now expressing repeated frustration at its performance, particularly against ACA.

They’re keen to try something else.

#18

Can HSV sway the whole network?

#19

They can certainly try something different - The Front Bar, The Price is Right (2012) bumped to 3pm.

#20

I’ve always said HSV7 should buck the trend and move H&A to 7two.
