Nine, 10 and ABC improved their network shares last night while Seven was down 3 points from the previous week that featured the Farmer Wants a Wife final. 10’s share was its best for 6 weeks.

Nine won the east coast with Seven ahead in Adelaide and Perth. 10 tied for second with Seven in Brisbane, a market where Nine had its best result. 10 won all key demo groups.

The Masked Singer reveal was the top entertainment show with 938,000 – up 150,000 from the previous week. Have You Been Paying Attention ranked second up 60k with its best number for 6 weeks.

The Block was steady but was pushed down to 9th place for the night.

Plate of Origin shed 150,000 from launch and was 4th in its timeslot. In 25-54 it ranked 13th below Nine’s Celebrity IOU. In 16-39 it was also 13th just below The Project 6.30.

An extra 209,000 viewers tuned into The Masked Singer’s final segment just to see which celebrity would be unmasked (it was Lucy Durack as Cactus). That is the biggest audience increase for this season so far.
Plate of Origin suffered a big drop as expected. In Melbourne, Seven News enjoyed a decent win over Nine News over the hour.

oh, dear…POO indeed.

The Block also not doing that well.

Good to see Have You been Paying Attention ahead of all the reality shows.

Reality fatigue may be setting in!

On recent years, it looks that way, because it was doing over 1m metro still.

But if you just look at the raw numbers in isolation this year, in this environment, it’s doing fantastic. Total people miles in front of Bachelor in Paradise for example, yet 10 were still jumping up and down because of its key demos. And The Block’s key demos even better.

Wonder if Plate of Origin will be in the 400,000’s tonight…

As a point of comparison episode 2 of P.O.O. rated lower than episode 2 of The Real Dirty Dancing that aired in September on Seven last year, so ratings are really in the toilet.

POO numbers are low and it’s not hitting demos either. That definitely makes it a flop. Manu, Gary and Matt are dragging down everything that they touch. People are tired of the same cooking hosts. Time to move on…

From Nine -

THE BLOCK DOMINATES 7.30 TIMESLOT :

The Nine Network was No.1 on Monday across the 5 City with Total People ( 27.1%).

Nine was the No.1 primary channel across the 5 City with Total People ( 18.2% ).

The Block was a timeslot winner across the 5 City and in Brisbane and Perth.

The Block was the No.1 live streamed program yesterday across all broadcasters.

9News was the No.1 program of the night in Sydney and the No.2 program of the night in Brisbane.

A Current Affair was a timeslot winner in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

9Go! was No.1 multichannel on Monday across the 5 City with People 25-54 (3.8% ) **

Quite a debatable claim regarding The Block dominating timeslot - didn’t seem to be the case in the 5-cities and the total national was a similar with TMS beating The Block regionally.

Is Hot Seat repeats? Really hurting that News number in Melbourne

Doing significantly better this week, best in ages? Ranking in Top 20 (total people and key demos) m/c programs and even drew a 4% share on Sunday night ahead of 7mate.

The new Q&A with Hamish started the year so strongly, but numbers have really dwindled this last few months

I think it has something to do with the topics chosen for Q&A each week. For example, this week’s topic was:

Some people could regard the topics as “boring” and wouldn’t tune in.

This is the week the audience complained about Hamish and threatened to not return - and they didn’t. That episode had 517k - the next week it was 350k.

Ten will be pretty happy that Have You Been Paying Attention? was last night’s #1 entertainment program.

Good to see Nine’s product placement fest The Block on the wane with viewers.

Surprised that Seven News Sydney didn’t win last night, what with the set changes over on Nine.

As for Plate Of Origin, well aren’t TV writers (well the very few still around these days) going to have a field day using that show’s abbreviation to describe the ratings?!

Really? Unless I’m reading the ratings wrong, both A Current Affair & ABC News had 214k viewers in Sydney. It’s a tie here, Nine!

The Coronavirus might have done Seven a favour in terms of shortening POO’s season. It could have been a long few months for them if that show had been able to run as long as first planned.

Don’t think the judges is the problem but rather the show itself. While it’s a different format to MKR, POO looks and feels like MKR - have never seen something like that before.

How was Q&A’s ratings before that episode and what has the trend been since then? It seems like you’re linking the show’s ratings decline specifically to that episode. However, I find it hard to believe 150,000+ viewers were so angry about perceived ‘bias’ that they decided they wouldn’t watch the show again.

Plate of origin has not done well. Hopefully this means 7 will reconsider the axing of MKR.

Q+A had been doing well and was consistently in the top 20 programs. I took note of the comments that night, as per the usual threats that never eventuate but noted that after that only one subsequent episode was in the top 20 and most were quite a bit outside.

Ratings leading up to that episode included

527,000
558,000
505,000
442,000
419,000
478,000
349,000
517,000

The average since that episode has been 322,000 with 7 episodes at or below the 300,000 mark.

It may be a coincidence - but that is the week that the change happened.
