Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2019. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

In a very competitive Monday, Nine took the honours with a narrow 0.2% win. Nine’s best result was a clear win in Sydney. In Brisbane, the network was just 0.2% ahead. 10 had a similar narrow victory to win Melbourne with Seven ahead in Adelaide and Perth. 10 recorded big wins in the keys demos with Nine second in each.

The Masked Singer continued its momentum with the “reveal” topping the night’s programs while the rest of the program was the number one entertainment choice ahead of The Block and the debut of The Real Dirty Dancing. The good lead in also saw Have You Been Paying Attention rank second of the entertainment shows. The debut of The Real Dirty Dancing finished fourth in its timeslot.

10’s new Just For Laughs managed some good demo results – in 25-54 it ranked 10th ahead of all Seven’s post 7pm line-up and in 16-39 it was 5th.

Strange, why did 10 split The Masked Singer into two segments for last night’s episode when last week’s episodes were not?
50-50 chance that This Time Next Year will be renewed. Nine needs to give Karl something to do while he is on the network’s payroll.
The Real Dirty Dancing didn’t do too badly.
What happened to Secret Bridesmaids’ Business?

Hate it when they do that.

But they must’ve seen minute by minute breakdowns from last week and thought it would be good for some reason to have the two entries.

Wasn’t Newcorp or someone claiming Dirty Dancing won? That definitely didn’t happen. Not a great start for it.

Masked Singer took a hit. But still strong.

The Real Dirty dancing doesn’t fire like some reports suggested.

Good to see The Masked Singer has sustained most of it’s audience from last week. Considering Ten had a REALLY bad second half of the week it could have easily lost momentum… but people are coming back for it. Social media was going crazy for it too, I’ve never seen a show have so many trending tweets related to it (16 out of the top 20 trending topics were related to the show and a lot of celebs people were guessing were trending).

Also can’t disregard how strong the lead in is boosting HYBPA. Really good numbers.

Nine must be sweating a bit now… finally a show that has been able to topple The Block numerous times now.

I would say if Channel 7 were doing it for the Ladies night ‘Performance’ 10 thought they might as well jump in and add an extra code for the reveal. A show is performing strong if it gains viewers as it goes on. I wonder if the amount of chat on social media has an impact on that or possibly some of Dirty Dancers viewers gave up and flicked over.

Fourth week in a row that HYBPA averaged 800,000 viewers - equalling the show’s second longest streak, last achieved in May 2017.

I was expecting worse for The Real Dirty Dancing.

It was 10’s best Monday audience of the year and The Block’s lowest.

Outside the top 20

10’s new Just For Laughs was 22nd

Secret Bridesmaid’s Business lost just over 100,000 from the launch episode to rank 25th. It also finished outside the top 20 in the key demo groups (on a par with the repeat ep of Kinne Tonight).

It has lost some momentum though - if you compare last Monday’s figures to last night (looking at the coding for the actual program), it’s fallen:

  • 39% in the 16 - 39 demo (343,000 v 209,000);
  • 34% in the 25 - 54 (628,000 v 413,000) & 18 - 49 (567,000 v 375,000) demos; and
  • 28% in total viewers (1,162,000 v 835,000) [34% if you’re use the consolidated 1,257,000 figure instead]

Don’t get me wrong, the show is doing really well for 10 and not only is it giving The Block a run for its money but it’s doing far better than anything Seven is dishing up. However, let’s not pretend that the show isn’t on a downward trajectory either

But it still smashed The Block though.

Channel 10 completely lost momentum from Wed-Sun last week though. The Masked Singer then brought most of the viewers back despite the network having low audience numbers across prime time for the majority of the week. It meant most viewers wouldn’t have had a lot of exposure to promo’s and actively turned to Ten to watch it.

And they’ll lose momentum again this week with that pathetic line up.

Luckily Bachelorette is back next week to at least give them something on Wednesday and Thursday.

I seriously think McGarvey only gets content for a few time slots each week and the rest is shit filler or library content to pad out the programming. There’s not strategy beyond four nights a week it seems. The upfronts need to have something that shows depth to the schedule.

Indeed. The Masked Singer very well could be the Block killing show that a non-Nine network has needed for a few years, although you still really have to wonder how well Ten might be performing if they didn’t hold off launching The Bachelorette with Angie Kent (which I’m also expecting to be a hit - particularly on Thursday nights with the show Angie used to be part of afterwards) until next week.

As for the Sydney news ratings, why am I not overly surprised that Seven managed to outrate Nine (even if by all of 1k) at 6.30pm last night? Can’t see how certain members are going to be able to spin it in Nine’s favour when to the best of my knowledge, both networks had their regular Sydney weather presenters on-board.

Of course it’s still only early days but with Mark Burrows filling in on Nine this week and no NRL on Nine until the Grand Final on Sunday, I reckon Seven News Sydney could be in with a shot to win their 2nd ratings week for the year and critically for some at the network (since Michael Usher was against Deborah Knight for Seven’s victory in Week 29), Mark Ferguson’s first for 2019.

How much are you paying the mods to be able to get away with such trolling?

It’s literally the same thing from you every day.

What will make you stop? People are so sick of it.

Ok. Ok. I give in.

Jayne Azzopardi is the most amazing newsreader ever. So much more amazing than everyone else.
Everyone hates Amber and switches to Seven for a 3 minute segment then everyone switches back to Nine for A Current Affair.
You are always right. Bow down to SydneyCityTV!

That’s what you want to hear right? So now can you pretty pretty please stop your constant trolling?

Thank you!

It’s all about the weather presenters.

Oh it’s just absolutely ridiculous now.

We get it. It doesn’t need to be mentioned all the time.

Nothing. If the staff/moderators of Media Spy want me to stop with the commentary about Sydney’s TV news ratings, I’ll happily oblige.

Until then, why do some members like yourself and 1169 seem to try and rub me the wrong way?

Maybe Nine could entice their former weather girl Delvene Delaney out of retirement. Her appearance on the ABC tonight could be a way of indicating she is available for an on-air role again.

You’re kidding yourself right?

Rub you up the wrong way? What a joke.

Can’t you see how annoying it is to see the same posts from you day in and day out?

We heard you the first time. We get it. All I’m saying is you don’t need mention the bloody weather segments every time seven beat nine.

Please just stop.
