Another close Monday result with Nine winning by 0.3 in network shares as Seven’s main channel slips to a rare third place behind 10’s. In the key demos 10 was number one – main channel and network.

For Nine, Hot Seat posted its highest audience of the year leading into Nine News where Sydney was a big winner with a rare +300k audience. A Current Affair was steady while Celebrity Apprentice was up on last Monday’s result by 35k.

The day got off to a good start for Seven: The Chase posting a 2022 high and big numbers for news at 6pm with Melbourne posting one of its best numbers for the year. It was downhill from there with Home and Away down 80k from last Monday while Big Brother missed the to 20. The linear audience was equal to the lowest audience posted by last year’s Celebrity Big Brother.

Over on 10 a generally good night, posting its highest audience share during the 2022 survey period as MasterChef posted its highest audience of the year. Have You Been Paying Attention? that followed was an easy timeslot winner and up on last week. 10 News had its highest audience since March.

Meanwhile, ABC dropped 3 points from the previous post-election Monday numbers. The entire schedule was significantly down week-on-week including Four Corners, Australian Story and Media Watch all down by around 100,000.

In the key 25-54 demo MasterChef was 6th, Celebrity Apprentice 9th with Big Brother 13th. In 16-39 MasterChef was 4th, Celebrity Apprentice 9th and Big Brother 14th. In both demo groups Big Brother was behind ABC News and 7.30.

At breakfast another third place for Today.

Shiiiit. Are Seven going to persist with BB? They should start promoting Farmer now.

Big Brother dropping out of top 20 overnights - who would have thought? Seven will be relying even more on people catching on timeshifting or BVOD, although the show’s Total TV ratings don’t look promising either. There has been a couple of episodes whose Total TV audience fell below the 800,000 mark.

Another really bad loss for Nine News Melbourne.

BB is dead. CA is close to dead too.

I suspect there was a big turn off the from even diehard Big Brother viewers after the producer manipulation at the end of last Wednesday’s episode and throwing a couple of intruders created further alienation with the format.

This season’s biggest ratings problem is the dire demo results - no amount of BVOD or catch up is going to make up for being beaten by 7.30 on ABC.

These shows are too old. Big Brother started 21 years ago and Celebrity Apprentice 11 years ago. If you’re going to persist with reality competition shows they shouldn’t go any longer than maybe 3/4 years.

The format of Big Brother does’t help these days. Clearly shown in the ratings. Are we finally over the gimmicks?

Ten did very well with HYBPA, and well for MasterChef.

Tipping Point sneaks in to the top 20.

The main issue with Big Brother is the pre-packaged, over-produced format which doesn’t allow the audience to gain any insight into the housemates or their relationships. What incentive is there to watch the “live to air” broadcasts when the show was filmed and in the can several months ago?

I am surprised Big Brother hasn’t been moved to mate or flix.

Also another shit day for Nine News, Today and 9 in Melbourne as a whole. 9News has a big 80k loss to 7 while Today came 3rd out of the breakfast shows, and 9 as a whole losing to 10 and 7. I wonder if 9 Afternoon News will be moved to 5pm in Melbourne, like Adelaide and Perth?

Surely BB will be gone by the end of today/ this week.

depends what they have to replace it with, I guess.

I’m sure they’ve got some Border Security and Highway Patrol hidden somewhere. Not ideal but would do better than Big Brother, even in the demos.

This should be a lesson to Seven regarding cheapening and dumbing down the format for cost purposes. Nine and 10 go all guns blazing for their shows yet Seven goes the other way from a financial perspective. The different in quality and ratings couldn’t be more stark.

Seven are “lucky” that Celebrity Apprentice is also tanking, otherwise they would be in a lot worse trouble.

Makes you think that Prime Time 6pm to Midnight should be changed to 5pm-11pm.

Maybe Seven could bring back Today Tonight at 7pm and air Home and Away at 7:30pm. They have nothing else and are letting the 7pm slot go to ACA and ABC News.

Seven also has Home and Away available. Given the soap will be off air for five nights during the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (Thursday in week 1, Monday to Thursday in week 2), Seven may as well air the extra episodes now rather than towards the end of November.
