Another Monday win to Nine – ahead across the east coast markets. Nine was 0.1% ahead of 10 in 25-49 with 10 winning the other two demos. The Amazing Race launches to 635,000 second in its timeslot in total people and demos. The last season of The Amazing Race on Seven launched to 588,000 in 2014. HYBPA dropped from the last 2 weeks’ numbers but stayed over 800k and won the demos.

Love Island ranked 21st, Just For Laughs 22nd , The Rookie 23rd and Q&A 24th.

Not a terrible result for Amazing Race - It’s actually up from 7’s 2014 season (588k) (which given the current TV landscape is reasonably impressive)

Also pretty strong demo numbers - if 10 treat it well, it could grow into their next reasonable performer (like Survivor)

Solid start to The Amazing Race Australia after a five year break.
HYBPA continuing its great streak.
Pride & Prejudice had a small increase from Sunday. I reckon some viewers not interested in TAR switched to Seven.

Looks like putting old Simpsons - Modern Family on weeknights has been somewhat successful.

Average debut for The Amazing Race. But it isn’t too bad for 10.

That will
Put Race In the top 10 for the week (25-54) 10s target demo

The Amazing Race did OK but it will be interesting to see how well it holds up tonight. I think there might be a bit of a drop.

 Can we really defend 10 like this anymore, when they’ve become competitive once again, smashing Seven lately and even beating Nine’s The Block (Masked Singer)?

Probably should say it wasn’t too bad for 10. Rather should have said ‘but it isn’t too bad for FTA’. I don’t think any network would knock back 350k+ in the 25-54 demo at the end of October. Especially when you look back at the same time last year the only show that wasn’t news based that was in the top 10 was Have You Been Paying Attention at 680k and even Bride and Prejudice that had a good season according to many, last year, only got 298k in that same demo.

I know MS, blogs etc still focus on total numbers. And even the networks like them for headlines. But all 3 networks program for and sell demos. 7 has often touted total as it does well there, but even 7 know it’s demos that pay the bills.

Nine has stated over and over and over again they care about 25-54
Ten has stated over and over and over they care about “under 50s”
Seven has now said publicly it will shift to 25-54 (although internally Seven has known for a long time that’s what makes them money)

So the best overall measure to look at for all 3 nets is 25-54.

Race did 360k

That will firmly make it a Top 10 show of the week. On all networks, all TV, pay, multi, network, streaming. Anywhere. add in the type of water-cooler fuzziness of Race - and it is EXACTLY the kind of show 7, 9 or 10 would want.

Reasonably Impressive?

Considering audiences are dealing about 5% year on year (2014-2019 would be about a 20-25% decline) to be up 20%, when audiences are down 25% - AND on a much less watched network - that is beyond impressive.

Not to mention the demos on 10 would be much much better than Seven too
