Monday’s viewing patterns were disrupted by The Block’s reveal episode being shown. That saw Nine’s share up more than 2 points from the previous week. ABC also lifted while 10 was down more than 2 points and Seven lost ground as well. Nine won along the east coast with Seven slightly ahead in Adelaide and 7 points clear in Perth.

The Block posted its highest Monday audience of the season and was up 200,000 on the previous week, though down slightly on recent Sunday reveal episodes.

That saw SAS dropped 60,000 and Junior MasterChef down 7,000 to a series low.

Have You Been Paying Attention slipped the most, however, down 120,000 week-on-week.

The new episode of Bluey made the top 20.

The afternoon Victorian news conference saw ABC News post top 20 multichannel entries, just ahead of the premiere of Housos on 7Mate, however, there was a big switch off to Regular Old Bogan that followed.

Junior MasterChef and HYBPA were largely affected by The Block last night.

I think this is the third highest audience of series 2. The series 2 premiere on March 17 this year got 458,000 and an episode on April 6 attracted 420,000.

Massive demographic ratings for Housos on 7mate

Good ratings for Bluey yesterday.
SAS Australia got hit hard by The block last night.

Is there any visibility on viewers across the other networks for the announcement? E.g. did the shows that normally air 3-4 get big increases to usual?

The encore episode of Bluey beat Ten News First 6pm.

ABC and ABC News were by far the most popular in Melbourne - almost double the commercials. The Seven and Nine afternoon news were up 68% and 88% respectively week-on-week.

THE BLOCK COMBATS THE COMPETITION TO CATAPULT NINE TO NO.1 ON MONDAY

The Nine Network was the winning network on Monday night across the 5 City with People 25-54 , People 16-39 and Total People (29.7%) .

The Block was Australia’s No.1 program with People 25-54 and People 16-39 and was the No.1 program of the night in Melbourne and Brisbane with Total People.

The Block – Room Winner was a timeslot winner across the 5 City and in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

9News was the No.2 program of the night across the East Coast and in Sydney and a timeslot winner in Melbourne.

9News 630pm was the No.1 program of the night across the combined East Coast and in Sydney and was the winning news broadcast in Melbourne.

A Current Affair was a timeslot winner across the 5 City, the combined East Coast and in Sydney and Brisbane.

From 10

Have You Been Paying Attention?:

  • #4 show in all key age groups, #5 in under 50s.
  • #1 across its timeslot in under 50 and all key demos.

The Project 7pm:

  • #1 across its timeslot in under 50s and all key demos.

Junior MasterChef Australia Monday:

  • #5 entertainment show in 16 to 39s, #6 in 18 to 49s, #7 in under 50s and 25 to 54s.

10 Bold:

  • #1 multi-channel.

Nine will be pleased that A Current Affair not only outrated, but smashed ABC News in Sydney last night. Last night’s 7pm ratings were also much closer in Melbourne than they have been of late, so it’ll be interesting to see whether that market returns to ACA as the city gradually returns to something vaguely resembling normality.

10 is in a bit of trouble. Junior Masterchef and HYBPA not performing as well as they could and now HYBPA is falling behind The Block and SAS in the demos.

The Block does pretty well (200K ahead of SAS, unlike Steve Molk on TVBlackbox who thought it would be a 300K-400K margin) but SAS is holding up alright and it clearly has an effect on The Block. Goes to show that if The Block had competition against it it wouldn’t be the powerhouse that it has been for so many years.

I think we learnt that many viewers likely only watch The Block because it’s “the least worst option” last year (and perhaps earlier this year) when The Masked Singer was doing well against it!

Hah.

Not really sure it’s fair to compare shows in different timeslots. HYBPA still won its slot in all key demos.

When was the last time the UK Chase beat Tipping Point? Must’ve been ages ago.

I can’t believe Seven still has The Chase in the 3pm slot considering that Seven then goes onto lose the 4pm news.

Nine would be crazy not to produce a local version of Tipping Point when it’s decided that Hot Seat has run its course.

Are you just rehashing old comments from Media Spy threads?

No, I’m simply just putting two and two together because Nine beat Seven in the 4-5pm slot, which implies that The Chase lost at 3pm.

No worries but these suggestions have been made about 50 million times so it sounds a bit Captain Obvious.
