Bad Mothers holds up very well in week two. Dancing with the Stars drops.

Instant Hotel is dead. God Friended Me needs to be returned to the timeslot asap or The Passage premiered. Instant Hotel can be used later in the year somewhere else.

Bad Mothers holding up alright even though most hated it. DWTS drops but the elimination makes it into the top 5 of 10’s target demo.

MKR pretty much stationary on 700K which is very bad for the show. Instant Hotel needed to be in a 7:30 slot later in the year (preferably replacing House Rules) and Seven should’ve had a new Australian drama ready.

Married at First Sight dropped nearly 400,000 viewers from Sunday! It still dominated the timeslot though.
DWTS down from last Monday’s premiere but MKR was up.
The Oscars replay did alright on 9Gem, coming 4th in 18-49 and 25-54 multichannel demo.

#5

Dancing with the Stars numbers are not good. 10 can’t seem to do anything right at the moment.

#6

Only positive thing going for them is that it’s delivering them a slight above 10% share on Mondays.

DWTS is pretty much the only show I am interested in these days, but two hours IMO is too long. I get that some might think that 2 hours for Live TV is good and will fix 10’s Monday night 8:30 problem before HYPBA returns, but it just felt like it dragged along all night.

The only silver lining for Seven with MKR is that it is an internal format. A show in its 10th year would cost millions per year in licensing alone. While I am sure Manu and Pete would be on healthy contracts, it is probably a relatively cheap show to produce so would be making a profit.

A format like DWTS on the other hand would not be cheap to licence. Figures like that are not sustainable. 10 are really struggling.

MAFS, hats off to it once again.

Surely it will get shorter as there are less contestants? I thought it was long too long and I didn’t pay as much attention to the second episode for that reason, so was flicking between it and the Academy Awards . It’s the sort of show I’ll probably pay more attention too the further it gets along.

#9

One can only hope. Other than the duration I can’t find much to fault with the show. It feels fresh and new and yet it is still familiar like it was back in the Seven days. I think the general idea is that 10 in general is struggling, not the show itself.

Does anyone know when Seven’s had a hit with an original format yet? We all know Seven is the notorious copycat network these days but I’m sure they’ve had success with originally-formatted shows in primetime. Does anyone remember any of those shows back in the days (I think Packed to the Rafters and A Country Practice are the only original ones I can think of).

#10

I switched from MKR to DWTS just after 9pm (while taping Instant Hotel for weekend catch-up) and still managed to see three dances and Miguel’s elimination. Two hours was just too long.

#11

Taking inspiration from Australian life.

Oporto: Just gotta go … Beverly and Paul.

The Weakest Link: You are the weakest link. Goodbye!

Big Brother: Its time to go … Beverly and Paul.

No two ways about it.

Probably because the wedding ceremonies are boring, as demonstrated last night. Ratings should bounce back tonight with Cyrell bringing the drama but if she walks, all the entertainment will have departed.

Outside the top 20 were 10 News First at 21 and the afternoon broadcast of the Academy Awards at 23. Instant Hotel continued to drop and ranked at 27.

Worth noting that last week’s Bad Mother’s time adjusted rating was 50,000 lower than the preliminary number.

Did it rate lower or higher than last year?

#15

Mondays is very competitive across the board, much more than Sundays.

Ten’s DWTS did okay against the competition, helping them with a share of above 10%. Not an excellent result, but helping them increase some wanted shares.

The Academy Awards (live and the repeat) did well.

#16

Seven percentage points separated the top ranking primary channel and the second ranking primary channel. That’s not close or competitive.

People say Seven should be moving or axing MKR because MAFS is destroying it, but then they’re also against them launching new stuff against MAFS. Well what should they do then? Shut down the entire network during MAFS (and later in the year, The Block)?

Btw, maybe a test pattern might create some buzz on social media and might rate higher than whatever MKR is on right now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

#18

Continue MKR as is, don’t attempt to launch anything new out of it and bring back the US drama content to air after it instead of wasting domestic content against MAFS fuelled 9pm shows on Nine.

Would launching MKR before the tennis help? 10 did that with I’m a Celebrity which paid off handsomely in January. Maybe Seven needs to have a head start on both Nine and 10. They have cricket I know but surely they can negotiate the scheduling of the games with CA?
