Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2020. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

Nine and Seven posted improved Monday shares as big news numbers continued to disrupt normal viewing patterns. That saw ABC and 10 lose ground. Nine won all markets except Perth as well as the key demo groups. 10 ranked second in the key demos.

All news broadcast did very well with 2020 highs across the board. Seven’s new 7pm bulletin of The Latest manged to rank 3rd at 7pm just ahead of The Project. At 7.30pm it ranked 4th but overall posted higher numbers than Home and away’s recent numbers. In the Key demo 25-54 The Project was number one at 7pm ahead of A Current Affair with The Latest just ahead of ABC News.

The penultimate episode of My Kitchen Rules just made the top 20 with the show’s 3rd highest audience of the season. Married At First Sight was up 80k on the previous Monday as Australian Survivor recorded its best audience of the season.

The Latest pulled just as many viewers as Home and Away in the 7pm timeslot. Seems people preferred to watch ACA or ABC News.
Big audience for Q&A at 9.30pm.
7.30 posted one of its biggest audiences for 2020.

Seems people don’t want The Latest at 7pm.

Hot Seat creeping up on Chase and winning in Sydney and Brisbane. How long has that been happening?

I think it was a clever move still. It helped MKR get better figures

Too soon to judge. It might take a while for viewers to realise it is there.

I agree. it got a better figure than anything else in that 7pm hour has done so far this year on seven

And would be much cheaper with all reporters already on location for 7NEWS. It won’t get 1 million every night - but will do a lot for people perception of 7 as a destination for News in the long run.

Outside the top 20 were
21 The Project 6.30 pm with its biggest audience since Jan 2018
22 The Chase 5pm
23 10 News First 6pm with a new record high audience
24 Sunrise
25 Hot Seat 5pm
26 Hughesy up 40k from last week

29 Seven Local News Special - this was only shown in 4 markets with Flashpoint in Perth…

It’s weird seeing numbers as high as this. Been such a long time!

It’s probably got to do with a lot more people being home and most of the program seeing such highs are news related.

So Ch7 has two hours of news from 6-8pm, is that right?

Clearly :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes

I think it is very interesting that Seven that has over 1.2 million viewers watching their news at 6pm gets beaten by 10 in the key advertising demos across the night.

From Nine

NINE NEWS / NINE NEWS 6.30 Highest rating weekday bulletin in more than two years

TODAY Highest rating episode in almost three years

A CURRENT AFFAIR Highest rating episode of the year

MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT Australia’s No. 1 program with all key demos

From 10

Network Up 20% compared with the same night in 2019.

Australian Survivor: All Stars: • Biggest audience of the year.

The Project Biggest audience since January 2018, • #1 across its timeslot in under 50s and all key age groups.

10 News First • Biggest audience since June 2017 • #1 across its timeslot in under 50s and all key age groups

10 News First 6pm Biggest audience ever

It was also MKR’s 2nd last episode which would also help to give a slightly higher number.

for a show that was so dominant for so long, MKR really is exiting with barely a whimper

I don’t think any more people would want watch it towards the end of the season since many deserted it because it was a debacle this season.

They have a chance to redeem it by going back to basics next year but who knows what will happen with any television productions by that time next year.

You would’ve thought they wold take advantage of the bigger numbers to provide more coverage and as other have said use the exposure to build trust in their brand. The only issue would probably staffing. But there are plenty of people out there looking for jobs.

WOW at those Sydney 6pm news ratings, almost like something from ten years ago!
