After Sunday’s record breaking episode, the introduction of intruders to the experiment, saw the ratings for Married At First Sight settle somewhat to average 1.866m. However, the result still dominated the competition and was up 90k week-on-week.
Over on Seven, Australian Idol saw the introduction of the Top 30 that was steady with 762k. For 10, Australian Survivor featured a new tribe and a new host. Season 12 got off to a disappointing start with 464k. That’s compared to last February’s season premiere that had 527k.
For ABC, Australian Story had for a late-scheduled repeat rating 641k to make the top 10 while Four Corners had 585k. That was well ahead of 9-1-1 on Seven with 322k.
Later, Media Watch was down slightly to just under 600k while Planet America was up 50k to 546k.
Meanwhile, Nine farewelled its Olympic coverage with the Winter Games Closing Ceremony encore managing 359k.
In a tight 6pm race it was Nine News that came out on top by a margin of 25k. At 7pm A Current Affair had its fourth straight Monday with over one million viewers. That was well ahead of ABC news with 998k and Home and Away with 929k. A big win on Millionaire Hot Seat boosted the audience to 330k.
At breakfast, Sunrise was steady with 412k ahead of Today’s 330k and News Breakfast on 215k.
Very low numbers for the launch of Australian Survivor. I am not very surprised though. The theme of the season just didn’t seem to resonate and there are a lot of people unhappy about the decision to dump Jonathan.
It is actually up 90k week on week for a Monday, so if anything it did better without the Olympics. MAFS generally gets it’s biggest viewers on Dinner Party and Commitment Ceremony episodes (Wednesday and Sunday’s).
They do…or did…but no one is watching the network, they’ve pushed away all the eyeballs they would normally advertise to. This is where the Project helped the network.

It also secured a National Total TV Reach of 3.192 million . On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD audience of 653,000 – up 33.0% year-on-year.
Married at First Sight had its highest-rating national Monday episode in VOZ history across Total TV with 1.866 million and across the 5 City Metro with 1.341 million .
9News was the No. 1 news bulletin with all key demos and Total People across Australia. It was also the No.1 news bulletin with Total People and all key demos in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The combined national bulletins registered a National Total TV Reach of 2.261 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.396 million – up 12.2% on the same night last year. On 9Now, its BVOD Audience of 194,000 – up 64.4% year-on-year.
9News also recorded its highest rating 6.00pm bulletin of the year thus far across Total TV Audience with 1.396 million and a Broadcast TV Average Audience of 1.203 million nationally
A Current Affair won the 7.00pm timeslot across Australia with Total People and all key demos and in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. It claimed a National Total TV Reach of 1.935 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.196 million .
A Current Affair recorded a BVOD audience of 199,000 (up 48.5%) year-on-year, its highest ever overnight BVOD audience in VOZ history.
Tipping Point Australia was the No. 1 afternoon game show with Total People and all key demos across Australia and in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.It secured a National Total TV Reach of 1.492 million and a Total TV National Audience of 784,000 – up a massive 72.9% year-on-year.
Today was the breakfast program of choice with Total People and People 25-54 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 911,000 and a BVOD audience of 58,000 – up 41.5% year-on-year.
The 9Network was the No.1 network on Monday across the 5 City Metro with Total People and all key demos.
9Now was the No.1 CFTA BVOD Platform on Monday across Australia with Total People and all key demos.
