Dancing WTS ends on a season high giving 10 its best main channel and network shares since before the start of the current survey in January. Seven scores its best Monday since January though MKR drops viewers from last Monday which must be disappointing at this stage of the competition. Big number for Seven News in Melbourne as expected.

Seven will be disappointed with MKR ratings last night, the huge drop from last year’s semi final 1 (1.221 million overnight).
DWTS finished on a high. Hopefully these figures will be enough for the show to return next year.

Hopefully 10 renew DWTS next year and people who watched the finale decide to flick back on if it comes back.

The mid afternoon screening of Game of Thrones proves to be very popular, even getting more viewers than the primetime broadcast.

Last weeks vpm got just under half a million viewers too. Its Huge.

Is Foxtel’s Showcase showing the same thing five times in a row during the day?

#10

Yes.

#11

Well at least DWTS grew for it’s finale, probably helped that it was the end of a long weekend. Ten will probably renew the show… they would have hoped it have done better but it’s still held it’s head above water a bit more than some of Ten’s other shows. Tweak the format a bit next year, speed it up, get some more younger skewing celebs and it could do better.

I’m wondering if the MKR finale will even top a mill this year if the semi-final at the end of a long weekend can only manage 800k.

Doesn’t surprise me considering the winner was announced close to 10pm.

The show has been dragging on for almost 5 months, it needs to end lol

#14

If it’s including regional viewers I wouldn’t be surprised

#15

Wonder why the Indiana Jones movies are performing so poorly compared to their recent last run?

The above figures were impressive consistency for re-runs, these are rare for FTA premieres now! (Recently seen with Nine’s Walt Disney FTA premieres).

#16

The law of diminishing returns. You can’t keep repeating these forever and expect audiences to keep tuning in.

They were on Saturdays which has a more movie-night sort of feel for a lot of people and the offerings elsewhere weren’t as competitive as Monday night TV.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Dancing. Despite an almost half decent total people audience for its finale, it’s rated pretty horrifically all season, especially in the demos. This one can’t come cheap either, it looks and feels like 10 have sunk a lot more money into the production than 7 ever did.

#19

How many people under 55 did they realistically expect would tune into a weekly ballroom dancing competition?

#20

That’s a good point actually, overlooked that.

Also I should’ve noted that first one was the night of the AFL GF.
