10 wins with its best Monday share since Jan 2018. 10 won Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide with Nine ahead in Sydney and Seven winning Perth. The 1.37 million rating for The Masked Singer reveal is the network’s best entertainment result since the Bachelorette final in 2017. Have You Been Paying Attention? that followed was slightly down on the previous week’s record audience.

The Block held up well but dropped 70k from the previous Monday with Bride and Prejudice also down. Love Island dropped to its lowest Monday audience so far to rank 23rd. The Rookie was 24th and Q&A 27th.

Impressive ratings for The Masked Singer finale and HYBPA (the show’s second biggest audience ever). 10 should be very proud. I actually thought HYBPA could hit closer to one million.
Not surprisingly 10 won all demographics.

Fantastic night for 10. Well deserved.

Was hoping that HYBPA would crack the magic million… but close enough! :stuck_out_tongue:

Great result for 10 and well deserved.

There were two big gambles taken this year - 10 with an odd Singing/Guessing competition (never been done before) and Nine with a reality TV show about Lego (never been done before)

It’s no suprise these educated risks, paid off. Seven took some risks, but they were either copycat, lower quality or genres already solidified in the market (all of their love crap this year)

The Ratings show that you can launch new shows, if you actually have a new, interesting format.

10 have done a great job with this show. It wasn’t dragged out. We didn’t have 90 minute episodes and it was just a totally refreshing take on the reality concept. I know we didn’t have any ‘major’ stars but it was still a fun show and they should be proud. Looking forward to the show next year. They deserved the win.

Huge result for The Masked Singer and it got slightly more than I expected. They should be set now to get some bigger stars and build that momentum for next year. It’s also amazing how quickly Ten were able to turn around a dud of a Sunday to a massive Monday… it goes to show that if you have something good on that viewers are interested in that they will come back to it regardless.

Yep good point there. People are tired of the same old formats. That’s where Seven are going wrong with rebooting shows like AGT and next year with Farmer Wants a Wife and Big Brother. They are set up to fail.

Everything seven produces in those reality genres looks cheap. The production values are horrific on some of the crap they’ve put to air.

10 seem to have been successful with these “tired old formats”. Australian Survivor has the same format as the US version which has been airing 2 seasons a year for close to 20 years and I believe every US season has been shown on Australian network TV. Similar for the Bachelor and Bachelorette. And of course 10 are rebooting The Amazing Race Australia.

That is different though. Seven are literally bringing back Aussie shows that have been tried and tested here multiple times and in recent years. Whereas Ten have tapped into formats that have had longevity overseas and have not been on Australian television in primetime for a very long time. US versions of Survivor/Bachelor getting 150-200k max hidden on multichannels isn’t going to have a big impact on how a local version on a main channel is going to perform.

I don’t quite agree. I don’t think shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race were given a proper go by the other networks that tried them. The Bachelor hasn’t been tried in Australia so that was a fresh show for Australia. 10 has had some success but when they did try a format that was old and tired they failed. Changing Rooms and Dancing with the Stars both failed to fire.

Data © OzTAM Pty Limited 2019. The Data may not be reproduced, published or communicated (electronically or in hard copy) in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of OzTAM. “Overnight” figures include “Live” (programs broadcast during the 2am-2am broadcast day) and “As Live” (programs recorded and then watched within the same broadcast day). “Consolidated” figures include Live, As Live and “Time Shift” (programs recorded and then watched within seven days of the initial broadcast).

TEN might just hang onto number 1.

Only 1% separated the three commercial networks after timeshifting.

They should. It would take something drastic for that to change.
