Isn’t that what Nine are hoping to do with Tipping Point UK in the long run? UK version at 3pm now and possibly Tipping Point Australia replacing Hot Seat in a year or two from now.

Seven did exactly that with The Chase, remembering how the UK version was on-air for a couple of years before The Chase Australia was launched.

The big test will be how MasterChef performs next season/year. Only then will we know whether the ‘Back to Win’ season really reinvigorated the show from a long-term ratings POV or if it was merely boosted by a combination of factors (namely its all-star nature).

Channel 10 is doing well and winning the night thanks to Masterchef FInale and HYBPA. It’s july and Channel 10 want to be competitive during its primetime slots. My feeling is that Masterchef Australia has improved from last year where they introduced new judges.

I caught Tipping Point a few weeks ago. It is so stupid but its so good.

It’s certainly very addictive.

Looks like another show that can be a success when the network persists with it.

You’re absolutely correct - it was certainly refreshing having new judges, but I do think its monstrous success was mostly due to their all-stars. Unlike The Voice (where most all-stars were forgettable), Masterchef’s crop of All-Stars were fan favourites and contestants that most viewers could remember from past seasons.

I’m a bit wary about Junior Masterchef airing later this year - hopefully the franchise won’t succumb to viewer fatigue.

Masterchef airing over 3 months + Junior Masterchef is quite a lot, though I’m guessing Junior will be a shorter season.

Having ‘junior’ versions of shows doesn’t seem to work well in Australia - The Voice Kids only aired for 1 season and previously Junior Masterchef only aired for 2 seasons before Ten dropped the spin-off as it was ‘diluting the audience for the original show’ after Masterchef had a big slip in ratings

I’ll give this more of a chance this time round.
Considering more will still be staying at home (COVID effects will be long lasting), and the new judges (even though some say it’s over exposure), I’m curious to see how it rates

If 7Mate scored nearly 15% in Adelaide, it must’ve performed extremely low in the other markets to end up with an overall result of 3.2… or is my Maths wrong?

Yes ranked around 2nd lowest in the commercial network multichannels in other places.

Like averaging 0.3… that must be an all time low for the channel.

Not sure how you get that number. Remember that Adelaide is the smallest market so the comparatively large audience for the AFL on 7Mate there didn’t even make the top 20 in multichannels.

Seven said last night’s episode of BB had a live VPM rating of 46,500, making it the biggest-ever live streamed entertainment show on BVOD.

I saw that claim but chose not to post it as it is not correct - similar to the previous time Seven made a similar claim for the opening episode of Big Brother.

Several episode of MAFS had higher live VMP ratings according to the official OzTAM information. Here’s the final of MAFS that had a live VPM of 62,000.

To have an average of 3.2, across 5 markets would mean a total of 16, less the 14.8 in Adelaide leaves 1.2 points across the remaining 4 markets. 1.2 /4 = 0.3.
If that’s not correct, then what were 7Mate’s actual ratings in each market?

As mentioned Adelaide’s population is much less, so the contribution it makes to the total 5-city audience is less. The audience for each channel is based on the total number of viewers across the 5-cities. The calculation is not determined by adding up the shares from 5 cities and dividing by 5.

Didn’t realise but that makes sense. Still must’ve been low shares in the other cities I’m guessing.

Only a small timeshifting rise for the MasterChef finale, while HYBPA got a decent consolidated increase.
