The ABC drops 3 points from last Monday and its looks to have all gone to Nine that recorded its best Monday share of this survey. Nine was 10 points clear in Sydney, eight in Melbourne and seven in Brisbane while Seven won Adelaide by two and Perth by one. Nine won the demos where 10 ranked second.

There wasn’t much change in the reality TV battle with Married AFS well in the lead, Survivor second in total people and demos and MKR trailing especially with younger audiences – in 25-54 it ranked 11th below Hughesy We Have A problem.

After cowing about their ratings success on last night’s program Media Watch lost 260,000 viewers from the previous week. Australian Story was down 120k, Four Corners was down a massive 300,000 with Q+A down 160k.

Home and Away numbers looking pretty low lately.

The Latest ranked 27th with a rating similar to SWAT that aired in the timeslot the previous week.

The early success of ABC’s current affairs line-up didn’t last.
Both Survivor and MKR were slightly down on last week while Married at First Sight edged up.
The Women’s T20 World Cup match between Australia and NZ rated pretty well for 9Gem despite the 3pm AEDT start.

It’ll be interesting if Home and Away gets its highest rated episode on Thursday again, with Pooch Perfect as its lead out (should it hold its audience) and no Technical problems with ACA, or if it sticks to the 500k above.

While Hughesy isn’t lighting the world on fire with Total People, how’s it going in its actual timeslot vs other channels between 9pm and 10pm in demos?

10 claiming that HWHAP had its best ratings since launch last night.

And it started at 9.07pm rather than the advertised 9pm.

Hughesy ranked 21st well ahead of any results it has had this year +60,000 from the week before. 10th in 25-54 number. In 16-39 it was 7th outrating Seven and Nine News at 6pm.

From 10

Hughesy, We Have A Problem:

  • Biggest episode since launch.
  • Up 21% week-on-week, up 31% in under 50s, 19% in 25 to 54s, 23% in 16 to 39s and 26% in 18 to 49s.
  • Up 19% compared with its 2019 average, up 32% in under 50s, 22% in 25 to 54s, 39% in 16 to 39s and 34% in 18 to 49s.
  • #10 show in under 50s, #10 in 25 to 54s, #7 in 16 to 39s and #9 in 18 to 49s.

10 News at 6pm was 26th, The Latest 27th and 9’s movie 30th.

That’s putrid, after a nearly 1.1m lead-in!? :open_mouth:

While Neighbours is scoring some of its biggest ratings in a while.

They are already producing Talking Married as a 9Now exclusive, why not just air it on the main channel after MAFS?

To be fair, it is a woefully bad film…

Exactly, when MAFS ran until 9.15pm last night I’m not sure there are many that are going to stick around for a 2 hour movie.

To be fair, the movie might have had a good 500k watching the first half hour before slowly plummeting to 100k by the end. We don’t get the breakdown to see when the real switch off happened.

They are probably trying to get more people into their online content. Quite smart really. Lots of money is to be made in streaming.

Not a bad figure for Hughsey. Its good that has picked up.

Also I think it risks causing a bit of overkill to MAFS if it’s on the main channel multiple nights. It’s good for the diehards who have the option to flick over to it but on the main channel it might be a bit too much and could damage MAFS. I do wonder if once a week (maybe after the dinner aprty) a main-channel version could work though.

Ratings of the ABC’s Monday night lineup of public affairs programs probably largely depends on whether or not that week’s Four Corners has a major investigation or is focusing on something topical?

For instance, it’s not surprising that viewers flocked to the recent episodes focusing on St Kevin’s College and Coronavirus but last night’s about non-binary children probably wasn’t as big of a viewer draw.

Clearly Nine are trying to air movies they have rights to which tailor to the same demographic as Married (i.e.) key demos (e.g.) Trainwreck.

However, it doesn’t seem to be working.

They’d be better off scheduling bigger and better movies which might not target the same key demos as much, but at least hold a total people audience better for better retention from Married and help get a bigger share while still satisfying their advertisers.

If you’ve seen even the first 5min of that movie… You’d know there wasn’t even a chance of that :joy:

That’s just it, maybe 500k did and minute 6 saw a plummet
Elsewhere Seven was showing “Outbreak” well into the night. Helping feed the current fear…
