The debut of SAS Australia did very well for Seven and saw the network gain a narrow victory. In the reverse of Sunday night, Nine’s main channel was number one but Seven’s multis delivered the network win. It was Seven’s first Monday win in 4 weeks and saw the network improve by 1.5 points while Nine slipped by 1 point. 10 was steady and ABC was up slightly.

Nine won the three east coast markets with Seven ahead in Adelaide as well as Perth where Seven won by 13 points. However, Seven ranked third in all three demos with Nine winning 25-54 and 10 winning 16-39.

SAS was the top entertainment show for the night with 834,000 in total people. The increased competition saw The Block slip 80,000 from the previous week while Junior Masterchef dropped 90,000.

10’s Have You Been Paying Attention topped all key demos with its best result for 5 weeks, up over 100k from the previous week’s result.

Good start for SAS, it will be interesting to see if the show can retain those viewers over the coming weeks.

The Block beat SAS in Melbourne and Brisbane despite increased competition.

Junior MasterChef slipped to a new series low but HYBPA had a solid increase from last week.

Close figures between Seven News and Nine News Sydney at 6:00, with Nine just winning there. The gap widened at 6:30 with Nine still retaining the lead.
Nine News Melbourne won the 6:00 timeslot with Seven not too far behind, however Seven Melbourne was able to take the 6:30 win with Nine dropping more. ABC News VIC was not far behind Nine Melbourne’s 6:30 figure.
ABC News SA struggling a little bit, only able to compare itself to the performance of Nine News Adelaide.

That is a really good start for SAS. The demos weren’t great though. I thought it would at least win one key demo. But still a great start. I haven’t seen it yet but will catch up on it today.

That’s a big drop from last year’s awards ceremony which averaged 114,000. I think it has something to do with the accidental leak of the winner on the Daily Telegraph website in the evening.

I was very surprised with the launch of SAS Australia. They managed to do well in its 7:30pm timeslot, beating the Block. I predict that channel 7 will win this week
Last nights Dally M Medal rated lower than last year on fox League. How could this happen? I think it may be due to having the awards night on a monday.

SAS was quite decent, I enjoyed it - felt like it might have been better as 30 mins or smack on 60 mins as it dragged a little but still enjoyable. I’ll come back to it… that’s the first time I’ve felt that way about a show on Seven for the longest time.

No network is going to commission a reality series with a 30 minute runtime in this economy though.
70-90 min episodes give advertisers more bang for their buck.

I get that - doesn’t change the fact that parts of it felt padded and dragged out.

All in all it was still enjoyable though.

All reality shows should be 60 minutes long. There’s no need for all the “coming up” and recap rubbish.

It’s intentional padding so they can sell more ad slots.

Which is why I hate reality shows and watch none.

No shit. They’ve got a prime time AFL final.

Good ratings for SAS judging the positive comments on social media last night

Agreed. Shows that the audience are still open to new ideas and fresh formats.

The demos are a bit disappointing but a consolidation prize for Seven would be that it beat Junior Masterchef in the demos.

A few people at my work discussing the show today… rarely hear them mention tv shows.
