Most numbers are down from last Monday’s public holiday results especially House Rules that drops 135,000. Nine and 10 are steady in network shares with ABC up and Seven and SBS down. HYBPA posts an increase and the new season of Back Roads does well for ABC.

Seven News wins every market.

Seven’s repeat movie The Heat posted low figures, and deservedly so. With 9-1-1 finishing its season last week, Seven should have had another US or UK drama ready to fill the timeslot, rather than a movie.

Decent figures for Kinne Tonight last night at just over 300k, up on the previous 2 weeks and best figure since the launch episode.

This is big now. This is a trend that’s heading further towards sevens favour.

The Nine News brand is not strong at the moment.

It’ll be interesting to see if Nine does something, particularly in Sydney, to refresh the bulletin or waits until the move to Denison St next year.

It’s starting to look worrying. Perhaps the stench of failure at breakfast is starting to permeate across Nine’s other news product.

As per a request last week, today’s article includes some numbers from afternoon TV.

thanks for the article.

It’s good to see what some afternoon shows rate.

Thought that Judge Judy and Everyday Gourmet would rate slightly higher than what it got. Everything else seems to be rating as expected.

Surprised to see Ellen at the bottom of that pack

Really good to see these numbers. The midday movie seems to pull in a good audience.

Does the ABC News at Noon figure include the News Channel simulcast?

…and Seven’s ratings are increasing at 6.30pm in the Sydney & Melbourne markets while Nine’s are decreasing.

I know I’ve said this more times than I can be bothered to count, but when will Darren Wick, Simon Hobbs & Hugh Nailon finally wake up to the fact that perhaps viewers might prefer getting their weather from a meteorologist than some of the questionable quality forecasters (particularly in Sydney) on Nine.

I’m personally hoping (as any Sydney-based media enthusiast with a heart should IMO) that the move to North Sydney will include a full top to toe relaunch of Nine News and indeed the entire Nine Network. Something which pays respect to Nine’s history while simultaneously looking forward to the future, if that makes sense.

But realistically, I’m prepared to be disappointed.

Non - just the main channel

IMO Ellen appeals more to younger and more female audiences than older audiences, at least in Australia.
I know she’s not an overall representation of audiences at that time (I always watch it over the school holidays), but my grandmother doesn’t like Ellen because of the loud and squealing audience.

I always forget the demographics of MS!

It’s more than the weather segments. There are a lot of elements as to why Seven News is increasing its audience. Nine needs to look at all corners.

Having a meteorologist deliver the weather on FTA news is one of the more ridiculous things we have now, they add very little value to the coverage delivering info which could be done as a VO or by the newsreader for the same effect. It’s not like the tv News is the only place to get weather info from (in fact some of the nerds on Facebook do a better job)

Unless a network really wants to up their weather game and give it more then 90-120 sec a bulletin, then there may be value.
