Nine had another win though with the network’s lowest share in 4 weeks. ABC was up a point with 10 and Seven fairly steady. Nine again won along the east coast leaving Adelaide and Perth to Seven.
In the key demos, however, in 25-54 Nine was 9 points clear of 10 that was 3 points ahead of third placed Seven. In 16-39 Nine beat 10 by 10 points and 10 and Seven by 16 points.

ABC got a big boost with the return of Australian Story. At 7.30, Married At First Sight was down 50,000 to its lowest Monday audience this season, Australian Survivor was up slightly as My Kitchen Rules lifted 60k to its third highest episode rating this season. However, MKR continued to perform poorly in key demo groups. In 25-64 it ranked 11th behind ABC’s Four Corners. Home And Away also saw some poor demo numbers ranking 13th in 25-54 even behind US drama 9-1-1.

Four Corners’ biggest audience for 2020 so far. The expose on Melbourne’s St Kevin’s College resonated with many viewers. Media Watch also had its biggest audience for the year to date.

Quick analysis of Adelaide Nine results.

Nine News rated lower (by 3k) dropping from 7th place last Monday to 12th.

The Chase got a huge lift in numbers up 22% at 5pm and 19% at 5:30pm from the previous Monday.

10 News First was up 4k.

Hot Seat at 4pm rated at about 1/3 the audience as Nine Afternoon News had

Reversal of fortune between Nine and Sydney News, what gives?

Wow Seven has really become the oldies network. 3rd behind Nine and now 10 is the demo that pays the bills. Not good for Seven. As their audience will just get older and older and older

what did I miss, why are we particularly interested in Adelaide today?

Wow. So this experiment won’t last long. Viewing habits are really entrenched. Adelaide wants local news at 4 and game show at 5

Nine swapped Hot Seat and Nine Afternoon News in that market. See the Nine News topic for discussion.

Ouch. 10 came 26th, Nine came 62nd

They launched it with almost no advertising for it, Ten has had News at 5pm for decades, doesn’t surprise me 9 got smashed in the time slot. The 6pm news didn’t see a massive change in ratings.

Biggest ick I have here is that they haven’t even promoted it much other than through the papers. I haven’t seen any promos on Nine Adelaide addressing the changes to the lineup.

Viewers don’t even know you’ve changed your lineup, and you wonder why your numbers have crashed.

Nine put on a double page ad in The Sunday Mail in Adelaide at the weekend but that’s about it.

They would have “crashed” because viewers tuning in at 4pm wanted news. Those tuning in at 5pm and not watching 10, wanted something lighter than news. So viewers turned off Nine by about 40% in both slots, while Seven saw gains of similar margins. This suggests they switched over to Seven. Promoting the change wouldn’t have helped Nine a lot.

Four Corners and Media Watch doing big numbers for ABC. As expected, MAFS is the best show of the evening.

Highest rating but certainly not “best”.

Outside the top 5 markets:

Sky News had a share three times that of ABC News

So? Monday is probably the weakest night for ABC News given the ABC1 lineup.
