Despite some last minute changes to the tennis schedule and a night of replays Nine still managed to win Monday night’s ratings with a slightly higher share than the first night of the AO the previous Monday. ABC and 10 were steady, Seven slipped and SBS improved.

Nine won the east coast markets while Seven won in Adelaide and Perth. Nine ranked 4th in Perth behind second placed 10 and ABC in third.

Part one of the night coverage of the tennis featuring Ash Barty dominated the early evening while The Amazing Race was the top entertainment show, even with the previous Monday. Holey Moley, slipped again to a new season low.

ABC’s line up saw Australian Story steady, while Four Corners and Media Watch dropped from the previous week.

Later, the second night session of the tennis ranked 29th with 9-1-1 on Seven steady. Hughesy ranked 21st, up slightly from the season premiere the previous week.

Seven had a good win in Adelaide News while in Perth, Nine was 4th.

Funnily enough, Seven and Nine News QLD saw themselves tied for the first half hour. Unsurprisingly however, Nine News fought back and won the 6:30 timeslot.

Nine still won the night even though it had no live tennis to show after 9pm AEDT, due to Berretini’s withdrawal from his encounter with Tsitsipas (which was supposed to be played after Barty’s match).
Big audience for Nine News in Melbourne.

Nine would have been disappointed that the second Tennis match was cancelled. There was a massive drop off after Barty’s game. Surprised that they didn’t code them separately like other nights, last night there was actually a more valid reason too given the second match was a repeat.

They did code separately - the seond session missed the top 20.

Nine News had a strong audience than Seven News In Melbourne.
In Brisbane, Seven a News was tied with Nine News at 6pm. However in 6:30pm, Nine News won the timeslot.
Meanwhile in Perth, Nine News languished to 4th place. In fact Channel 9 tv ratings continue to be a basket case in the west.
Despite the earlier finish to aus Open, Nine still won over Seven by 1.4%

10 News First Adelaide was also up. I’m assuming the absence of Nine’s local news at 5 might be playing a part here?

Yes, last week 10 News in Adelaide had its highest rated week since the change to Melbourne.

Sunrise won Sydney, Adelaide and Perth but ranked third in Melbourne and Brisbane. Today and News Breakfast tied for first in Melbourne and Today was way ahead in Brisbane.

The debut of local Seven Morning News in Adelaide went fairly well to build on its lead in (The Morning Show - Extra) but rated below TMS itself. The key demo results were very low, however, barely registering with the OzTAm ratings system.

Amazing Race was the best non news/sport show of the night. Another dud for Holey Moley.

Surely won’t be back for a second season at this rate.

There is genuine hope for it, if Seven do what most people are suggesting. 8x 1 ep a week style show.

Those Nine News Perth figures… Yikes.

All that effort since Nine Ent. Co took over, and a tennis lead-in and lead-out, all for only 57K, behind every other news service. Gotta feel for those at St Georges Terrace wondering if there is anything that can be done whatsoever.

It’s production values, content is better than 7.

Pity the viewers don’t warm to it. Its not just news, they are loyal 7 everything.

I don’t know how you turn the entire market pro 9.

Speaking of Perth, Ash Barty’s match was shown on Nine in late afternoon due to time difference. It was easily beaten by 10 News First and The Chase between 5pm and 6pm.

How much do the networks, even Seven (no doubt a handy bonus) actually care about the Perth market anyway, on a network ratings / commercial level?

Because even with the massive Seven lean there, it seems to not have botheted Nine winning the last two ratings years and the last week or so with the Aus Open.

Just a drop in the ocean really compared to the East.

I guess more for 9, is probably the amount of investment that’s been spent. For zero (or even negative) increase in viewers.
