The fifth straight Monday with the three commercials over 20%, this one with Nine a winner by 0.5 and just 3 separating the networks. 10 won all key demos.

Seven was up slightly from last week and off to a good start at 6pm where Seven News Melbourne posted its second highest audience of the year. However, the lead in didn’t help the rest of the schedule. Home and Away posted its lowest Monday audience of the year while Big Brother that followed again landed fourth in its timeslot edging down from last Monday.

Over on Nine, ACA won the 7pm timeslot while Celebrity Apprentice lifted by 30k to a season high.

Meanwhile 10 recorded its highest Monday share of the 2022 survey. That was despite Have You Been Paying attention? slipping by 50k week-on-week. It was made up for, though, by MasterChef that was up this week with its biggest audience of the season so far.

ABC saw Australian Story down 50k while Four Corners and Media Watch posted increases of 90,000 and 30,000 respectively.

In the afternoon Seven’s AFL coverage did well with 563,000 while The Big Freeze made the top 20 with 423,000. That compares to 2021 when 617,000 and 454,000 tuned in.

The morning screening of Bluey posted a new season high.

Seven lost the night with the new season premiere of 9-1-1: Lone Star outrated by Million Dollar Murders.

Seven News Melbourne lost almost half its audience from news to H&A. looks like most moved moved over to ACA at 7pm.

Last year’s game was played in Sydney due to Melbourne being in lockdown. Yesterday 76,000 fans were at the MCG. This would explain the year on year drop in ratings.

The big freeze didn’t help Big Brother last night, being 4th in the timeslot against MasterChef, 7:30 and Celebrity Apprentice. I wouldn’t be surprised if it did a move similar to Ultimate Tag and moves the show to 7mate or 7flix.

I don’t see how the former would affect the latter in any way.

Also it is clear that the Kayo streaming numbers are responsible for an increasing number not caught in the FTA and STV numbers

I’m pretty sure I saw early in the season that it is 80 to 90 % of the foxtel numbers. Wouldn’t surprise me if that number has grown. Likely though that an average of at least 200K were streaming. That’s 200K that would have historically appeared in the ch7 or foxtel fgures

The pay TV ratings for Collingwood v Melbourne was up on last year though.

At breakfast some lower than usual numbers. Sunrise coded its extended final hour separately and it rated higher than the 7-9 portion of the show that posted one of the lowest number ever seen for the show, below 200k for the first time this year. The show was 20k ahead of Today that was 40k ahead of News Breakfast.

I don’t see that happening due to the streaming numbers on 7plus being pretty high.

Two episodes last night. 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Did they just report one figure or the full hour?

I’m more puzzled on why it rated 40k in Brisbane but 29k in Melbourne and 14k in Sydney.

One figure only reported.

It’s on-trend though. It’s actually been doing really well in Brisbane for the past few years. I’ve noticed that Brisbane has out-rated Melbourne quite often.

Typical on public holidays and weekends that people tune in later (the reason why Sunrise extends on these national holidays). Still a low result, as reflected in recent numbers.

Today not split coding the extra hour increased their average for the day though. They will cunningly lump it in with their yearly average, making for an unfair comparison.

However, I’m not inclined to praise Sunrise for code one program into 4 segments! 5:30 - 6:00, 6:00 - 7:00, 7:00 - 9:00 and 9:00 - 10:00.

Seven has a habit of coding their programs into several segments (Sunrise/ Weekend Sunrise, The Morning Show, the 4pm News, The Chase, the 6pm News to name a few).

As for Sunrise yesterday, i understand them coding the Extended part (9-10am). But ideally, the show really should be coded as 2, not 3 (should be “early” for the 5.30-7am portion, and the main portion for 7-9am).

Weekend Sunrise is currently coded as 3 segments: “Early” (7-8am), “Main” (8-9am) and “late” (9-10am). Should really be coded as 2 - early (7-8am) and main (8-10am) since there’s not much difference between the main and late segments.

Is it time for 7 to move The Latest one hour earlier?
Refresh the graphics to be like the rest of 7News or Sunrise, and include more of the segments where there is a panel discussing news of the day. Could extend to 45/60 minutes each night.
