Instant Hotel is DOA – with lowest result ever and down from season one’s premier of 695,000.

Married increases from Sunday to season high. MKR down again.

Married At First Sight hits a season high. Around 3-400,000 extra viewers are watching on 9Now.

My Kitchen Rules drops from Sunday night’s high. Instant Hotel flops, smashed by Murder Lies and Alibis. First time in a long time Seven have lost the first two nights of the official ratings period. Horror start to the year for them and unlikely to get any better unless they can pick up some of the Celeb audience or just tough it out until MAFS ends.

Why couldn’t Seven wait until MKR ended and air Instant Hotel in place of House Rules later in the year?

#5

It is not a 9pm show.

I agree. It would have been a perfect 4-5 week show.

Not my point but I agree.

This show would’ve been perfect for a 7:30 slot after MKR finishes in April/May and it would’ve been perfect replacement for House Rules.

Seven needs a new show with buzz. Get the rights to The Masked Singer ASAP, and slot MKR against The Block later in the year.

MKR down from Sunday but up on last Monday.
Bad start for Instant Hotel, should have aired at 7.30pm Thursdays.
7mate had one of its lowest shares this year, on the back of extended live telecast of Australian Cricket Awards.

What a disaster for 10. Couldn’t beat the ABC in primary or overall, and not even second place in the demos. They need their fresh new local shows out there fast.

The performance can be improved definitely but is it really that bad given they never had tennis or cricket? It could be a lot worse. Those Celeb demo numbers, hot on the heels of MKR, are great. Considering the lack of major sports momentum.

10 were outrating the cricket and tennis with I’m A Celeb, they had a bigger lead in over summer than Seven and Nine! So yeah, I’d say they’re pretty bad. 10 have given up after 8:30pm with Graham Norton reruns, etc. The Project and Pointless continue to drag, I’m A Celeb has halved its audience and isn’t even second in the demos. I’d say pretty bad.

Those are absolutely incredible demo ratings for MAFS, and these don’t include the hundreds of thousands more watching on 9NOW. 56% of the total number of viewers were aged 25-54.

And helping Nine, look at the key demos for 9Go (it really is still the go to multi-channel for young audiences, I mean with a title like “Zombieland”)

I think you mean 9:15pm.
But yeah too many encores of shows that air as premiers at the same time on different nights after Im a celeb. So why bother watching the premier with encores on all three 10 stations.

Instant Hotel isn’t a replacement for House Rules. There are only 4 teams so Seven will be lucky to get 6 episodes out of this season.

There was a coding error for Today Tonight in Adelaide and Perth - I’ve manually corrected it and posted the correct numbers above.

Q&A ranked 21st and Graham Norton 25th

Nine was 6-7% behind Seven in Adelaide and Perth.

Sunrise was 80,000 ahead of Today that again dropped below 200,000.

We were predicting trouble for that scheduling of Instant Hotel and we were right. Its a shame they didn’t run it late last year when they had little in thd schedule because it could have been a hit. Viewers are just not willing to sit through that much reality TV in one night.

Nine and Ten didn’t have amazing ratings post 9pm either so in effect the commercial main channels have chased viewers away later in the night.

In saying that, the elimination ep did better than the ‘instant restaurant’ eps have in the first few weeks. Whether the ratings fall back down tonight with the 2nd round of ‘instant restaurants’ beginning remains to be seen

Still don’t know why Seven decided to mess around with the show. The show did reasonably well (IIRC) when it aired at the end of 2017 and could have become a decent (if not solid) performer for them at the end of the year if they kept it there

MKR might be down on Sunday night but the figure is up on last week which would be pleasing for 7.

Nobody should be surprised by this. They have put two way too similar shows back to back. It’s overkill. MKR has people visiting others homes and scoring… so does Instant Hotel. The difference with MAFS and Travel Guides back to back is they are two completely different shows so that worked. Seven have just wasted Instant Hotel in this timeslot.
