Millionaire Hotseat

I would have liked to see an hour format from 6-7pm.

Neither.

The original format came from the UK.

The Hot Seat format was basically that being renamed, while keeping the same gameplay twists.

Yeah I can confirm the new Hotseat set is pretty much identical to the USA etc

Except the Aussie version probably has little to no elements from the British and American versions. The visuals for all international versions are made by Sony and their own graphic designers.

I’m liking what I’m reading here - Def can’t wait to watch this.

I read that when designing the Nigerian classic-version reboot, they were asked point blank whether they want the UK studio, the Israel/Mideast one, or the LATAM/Africa one.

There are ready-to-go templates for this, and would 10 spend time brainstorming another one? Unlikely. Probably Sony wouldn’t approve either had they come up with one.

Oh no, I was talking about the graphics and other visuals because Potion Pictures did video wall and floor ones for the UK and US versions. Sony has their own (international) versions of those visuals, which were also used during the 2021 Special Events run on Nine.

The current (and I’m pretty sure the old) set design was made by Patrick Doherty, so I’m aware of the templates.

Actually that was designed by Olga van den Brandt.

So for whatever reason, that package/studio was just called “Olga”.

US/UK has this design, but different graphics (which were PP-made).

So we have a few things done:

  • Higher payout structure
  • 30 minute duration
  • Olga set
  • New host

I mean, if this isn’t a hit…

Actually, it wasn’t just her. I happened to get the chance to speak to her a few years back - It was a team of people from Sony that worked with her on the show’s rebrand. She explained the idea behind the whole design and the different sequences to me.

The fans of the show may refer to the graphics as “Olga”, but Sony themselves refer to it as the International ones.

Well, it wasn’t just the casual fans, to be clear.

You nailed everything otherwise. Great insight.

Found it. Exactly like what you said.

I think we’re safe with this look.

Fair enough. Also, for the ones that don’t know - that’s the Portuguese reboot of Hot Seat, that was the only version with a modern set for years until now.

I actually liked their take on it and it remains the best one (at least until I see the Aussie and the UK ones), they even had some cool gimmicks like a timer on the video floor.

The hoe hour is my favourite hour

Are the episodes self contained?
ie: There is no carry-over contestant if they didn’t reach the end of the money tree at the end of the 30 mins?

My two cents is that I’m going to guess that this replaces Deal.
Unless it’s 10N, 10N+, Millionaire, DOND (dream lineup, or ditch 10N+ entirely and start reality at 7pm)

Yes.

In other stuff, yesterday a call to join the studio audience was posted.

I’m just concerned about the soundtrack in the background. What is this? This doesn’t scream Hot Seat at all, period.

Nor a normal version even, you might say.

(Has been vocally separated by AI so it’s a bit rough around the edges)

Maybe it’s a temp sound track with an update to be provided on the edited show?

The Hotseat format basically means 15 questions per game so all self contained.

The UK version of Millionaire Hot Seat will start taping in November, tickets are now available from Lost in TV. Also here’s the UK Hot Seat logo

Also 30 minutes, more red in the studio (I mean, it’s the UK) and the correct music.

Almost make 10 looking like having buyer’s remorse.

For the people who went to a taping of the show: Do they still use the regular Hot Seat music?

I think so
