SPT competitor?
My thoughts exactly - prehaps something they can run in the 8:30pm Wednesday slot when The Front Bar isn’t on air during the AFL off-season
A good pairing.
Could work on Wednesday nights once The Front Bar concludes in late September. May be too short of a run pre-AFL Season (of just February)?
Awful. Mick Malloy has had his day.
there must literally be a ton of new/fresh/young comic talent out there busting for a big break and instead they give it to these guys ![]()
One can hope they are his “funny friends”.
Yeah, I know.
Is The Front Bar a Molloy Boy Productions with good ratings (in some cities)? With some guests his friends? What’s the difference between this and the new show (that’s not AFL based and not sponsored by beer)?
Welcome back Out of the Question.
I think you just answered your question.
My thoughts exactly. The same old same old. Like a lame breakfast radio show with pictures.
Find some new talent instead of washed up oldies!
I guess the Roast Chook Network title makes more sense now.
Isn’t 7s whole channel aimed at the older demographics - or the “washed up oldies” ![]()
Well, that’s 2026 offseason primetime sorted. Either this, or Shark, or whatever 10 serves up.
That’s every demo catered for.
From Mumbrella’s wrap of today’s Seven upfronts
As (Seven’s chief content officer) Brook Hall told Mumbrella, the promotional plan for this show is to tease it slowly over the summer. Molloy self-produced the pilot, and pitched it to Seven, who jumped at it. (“The best pilot we’ve seen for something new in many, many years”, Hall says.)
Hall is coy about the details, only revealing to Mumbrella: “It’s not a quiz show, it’s not reality, and it’s not scripted — but it’s fucking funny.” Sold!
“I think if we can make it work here, these guys might have a successful format that will travel around the world, because it’s transferable.”
So basically it’s gonna come down to the Wow factor.
The first episode (or whatever snippets come out first, like title, trailers and whatnot) better be something that will absolutely hook viewers in.
Seven probably expecting MKR numbers out of the gate.
Did Hall actually say that
Yes, he well and truly did! ![]()
Hilarious.
Two guys in their 60s will appeal to the audience of Seven.
The new talent you speak of already have an audience on TikTok, Twitch, Instagram etc.
Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not but that’s exactly the case here!
