Well done to ACE Radio, 4BH and BBQ Bob - now beating KIIS97.3. Meanwhile, LGM on 4BC look to have settled quite a bit. I think it’s becoming more clear that Brisbane likes pure classic hits rather than just a breakfast team with hybrid classic hits & talk.

Dee Dee Dunleavy’s sudden departure from 3AW seemed to have an effect on its afternoons show, its ratings was down 1.1 from survey 3.

Good news at last for ABC Melbourne, with a big rise in evenings (+4.5) plus increases in breakfast (+1.7) and weekend mornings (+1.3). I wonder if that increase in evenings was due to the ABC’s coverage of AFL and test cricket in the survey period?

Gold’s Christian O’Connell dropped one whole point from last survey and was just 0.2 ahead of second-placed Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick. KIIS also lost ground in breakfast but Nova, Triple M and Smooth posted gains.

Great result for Nova’s Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel on drive (+2.1).

A great survey for 4BH to outrate an FM station up to the levels of 4KQ at its peak. Remind me why did ARN sell 4KQ?

4BH doing well, 2UE & Magic don’t seem to be resinating with the locals, I still think they’d probably do better swapping the formats, with the Magic log in Sydney & the 2UE log in Melbourne, but then that’d put Magic & 3MP at loggerheads with each other & it’s not rating that well either. 2UE should definitely be the Classic Hits Magic or 4BH log though.

Looking at the Sydney ratings in a closer detail, it’s worth noting that Smooth outrates both 2UE & ABC Sydney in the 65+ age group.

In the 40-54s, 2Day was 4th with 8.2%, beating out Nova & 2MMM in that demo.

I think it was the combination of selling/destroying 4KQ along with the KIISification of 97.3 which has led to 4BH’s success.

ARN probably should’ve waited a little longer before tweaking KIIS97.3 too much too soon.

At least they can kind of rely on the JV with Nova106.9 Brisbane.

> Great result for Nova’s Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel on drive (+2.1).

Looks like making Ricki-Lee permanent has paid off now.

Unfortunately with Kate Ritchie moving to Breakfast, the ratings went down for Fitzy and Wippa (-0.5%). Generally, Nova need to fix their playlist if they are ever going to catch up to KIIS.

Kate’s not just the problem at Nova96.9. Unfortunately, Fitzy & Wippa are a bit stale too. If it weren’t for their heritage value, I’d say Nova would’ve replaced them by now.

The sad thing is - most networks are probably happy at a 6-7 share.

Someone was foolish enough to give them $$$ for it. Why wouldn’t they knock that back 😛

I don’t know about that. Even when Fitzy & Wippa are on their own, the show still fires. When Wippa went on holidays early for two weeks, the show was an absolute mess when it was just Fitzy and Kate. Same when Fitzy missed a show and Kate hosted with Wippa. It doesn’t work unless Fitzy and Wippa are both there.

You can tell how much they carry her and feed her lines to try and make her look like she can do her job. She’s not always bad and sometimes she’s surprisingly quick with a comeback and funny. But often her lack of confidence is in full force and the fact that she mostly doesn’t want to share anything happening in her life becomes grating to listeners.

Apparently today marks 4 years as the No. 1 FM station for Gold 104.3 in Melbourne.

Does anyone know why KIIS is successful in Sydney, but is lagging behind Fox in Melbourne?
Also, why do 2UE, Magic and 3MP struggle while 4BH is thriving in the ratings?
