Media Spy: History and Memories

I can’t believe I never noticed this in all the years on the old forum but you were user # 1 on IPB. Did you set up the forum for Jezza after the change from Media Central?

I don’t remember it’s been too long but it may have been when setting up Media Central.

(yes that’s my OG username)

I joined 1.0 at around the time of Sam Mularczyk’s awesome Network 10 mock was posted on TV Forum by @KVZ!

At the time, I was still that weird Aussie who was more interested in how the UK did their TV presentation, but I did make an account at around then, and started posting more when Channel 9 did their big HD/9Life relaunch, which by then made me more and more interested in stuff down here, especially with now Nine did their relaunch so perfectly, I then posted a mock on Random Mocks, and participated in a few threads, and then we moved to Discourse, and I haven’t left MS ever since!

MediaSpy is definitely one of my favourite communities to be a part of, and I will never leave it. <3

I first came across Media Central in 2001, doing a year 10 media studies assignment, so gosh that’s been the majority of my life visiting this site and its precursors.

I can’t remember exactly when I joined, but I remember being a member when Seven suffered a major outage one evening (was that 2004 or 2005?).

It was just after 9:00pm AEST on April 13, 2005 during an episode of Blue Heelers (or Home and Away in Perth) that the entire Seven Network was knocked off the air.

That episode of Blue Heelers was repeated the following week in all markets except Perth, which got the interrupted H&A episode repeated the following night (14/4/2005).

Thanks for reminding me of the date. Jeez, April 2005 - my life was so different then - in some ways less complicated, in other ways more so!

I joined in March 2015 after discovering a few familar faces from YouTube (@Zampakid, @SouthCoastTV, @anthony78977) that were on the forum. Posted quite a few crap phone recorded caps every now and then (particularly in the watermark thread) before we moved here haha.

These days you’ll find me mostly in the TV History sub, but still lurk in the present day threads!

20 years for me this year since discovering MS. I was around since the Nine rebrand back in 2006 but joined back in 2008. I still remember hearing there is a rebrand happening back in Dec 2005 and came across this forum. Just back then I was a very different person and was shy about opinions so it took me until 2008 to sign up. Nowdays I am a very different person.

Being part of this group has really helped me in my life so forever grateful.

I joined in 2006 and was the inaugural Mawk member of the year which Bacco refuses to acknowledge due to his woke mind virus.

That’s a case for reform of the electoral system if ever there’s been one :joy:
