Hosted by Marc Fennell, TV’s hardest quiz show is back! This season, Mastermind begins with a special Family Week, where relatives go head-to-head in the famous black chair, testing not just their knowledge but the pride, rivalry, and shared passions that run in the family.
Episode One – Monday, 6 April at 6.00pm The Coutinho family kick off Family Week with The West Coast Eagles, Good Luck Charlie, Thirsty Merc, and 1970s Chrysler Valiants.
Episode Two – Tuesday, 7 April at 6.00pm This family has mastered their individual niches: Australian politics, World War Two operation Shetland Bus, the Melbourne Football Club and St George Illawarra.
Episode Three – Wednesday, 8 April at 6.00pm What do Manchester United, JDM cars, the human muscular system and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead have in common? Tonight’s family somehow fits them all under one roof.
Episode Four – Thursday, 9 April at 6.00pm Tonight’s family tree has four distinct branches: bestselling author Matthew Reilly, murder mystery game Blood on the Clocktower, the band Twenty-One Pilots and the history of WIFI.
Episode Five – Friday, 10 April at 6.00pm Our weekly family winners are back with two minutes of general knowledge, plus the dreaded slow burn round. Tonight’s slow burn topics are an annual event, a sportsperson, a band and a country.
There will be a week of Eurovision Song Contest themed episodes on May 11-15.
Enjoy a special edition of the renowned quiz show Mastermind with a night of celebrating Eurovision on Monday 11 May, looking at Eurovision 2020 – 2025, Sweden in Eurovision, Early Eurovision Winners and Eurovision 2010 – 2019.
The only Eurovision themed episode is on Monday 11 May.
World Cup Special

Mastermind returns with a special World Cup takeover episode, hosted by Marc Fennell, bringing sport, suspense and specialist knowledge together for a football-themed night of competition ahead of the tournament kick-off.
Four football fanatics go head-to-head on World Cup-themed subjects, from legendary players to unforgettable eras and historic moments, in a high-pressure battle that tests their knowledge, composure and pure love of the game. Produced by BBC Studios Australia.
Good way in promoting this show. But I assume this is part of the normal 6pm edition of the show, rather than a “special” of sorts?
Am hoping it is a special and air it away from the news, but unlikely.

Before tonight’s Grand Final, this special episode celebrates the standout contenders who lit up the Mastermind chair throughout the season. Across 84 episodes, we witnessed some of the highest scores in Mastermind Australia’s history - from blistering specialist rounds to near-perfect general knowledge performances.

Tonight’s grand final is rated PG for horror, due to the specialist subject of a contender.
It’s an all-male final four.
The final just wrapped up (on the East Coast). I always enjoy the hour-long Final. From the different topics, to the slow burn section, to the final 2-minute quiz per person at the end.
Marc mentioned that it is returning next year, which is good to hear.
A shame that this show doesn’t rate. But i like that it is still on air, as the hidden gem.
