Married at First Sight

EPISODE 32 - Final Dinner Party

Tonight is the experiment’s final Dinner Party – and it’s the first time the couples have seen each other since homestays.

As they get ready, Tahnee and Ollie reflect on their positive time together during homestays, and although Melinda and Layton remain worried about how their relationship will survive outside the experiment, they are heading into tonight’s Dinner Party united.

Following a catastrophic homestay, Bronte and Harrison have not spoken since returning from Perth and are getting ready separately to head into tonight’s Dinner Party alone.

Alyssa and Duncan also find themselves at a difficult point in their relationship after homestays, and although they are walking into the Dinner Party together, there is obvious tension between the two.

The Cocktail Party commences and as soon as Evelyn and Rupert arrive, Alyssa is quick to inform them that Duncan ripped their relationship apart during homestays, a statement that shatters Duncan.

Harrison arrives alone and tells the group that Bronte’s sister verbally “attacked” him during homestays, calling him a gaslighter. Evelyn is tired of hearing from Harrison and she motivates the girls to separate themselves from him.

When Lyndall and Cameron arrive, Lyndall confesses to the girls that she received no affection from Cameron during homestays.

Bronte arrives and Harrison is quick to approach her to talk, but she denies him. Lyndall tells him to give her a minute and Harrison is left stunned. Bronte debriefs with the girls, but Harrison again comes over to interrupt the conversation. Bronte confesses she is done with Harrison and dinner is served…

At the dinner table, Harrison and Bronte are eger to talk about their experience during homestays, but are interrupted by the Experts who reveal one last task for the couple before Final Vows: the Honesty Box.

The Experts warn the couples to be open, honest and vulnerable – as it’s their last chance to unpack any last concerns before Final Vows.

Tahnee and Ollie are the first to take on the honesty box and admit to each other they’re falling in love, and they’re excited for their future.

Alyssa and Duncan are icy throughout. Alyssa announces to the room that she has doubts about their relationship. Duncan is concerned about their different views on what a good relationship is as he doesn’t feel that their relationship is healthy. When Duncan asks what he can improve on, Alyssa tells him he takes things too literally and he should put himself in her shoes for once. It feels cold and unresolved between the two of them.

Evelyn and Rupert’s responses are awkward. Evelyn calls Rupert out for not having tried hard enough throughout this experiment and not taking her out on a date, and she admits her feelings have grown since day one. Rupert admits that he doesn’t feel like Evelyn is attracted to him, which Evelyn is annoyed by, because she wouldn’t have had sex with him if she wasn’t. Rupert is speechless.

Lyndall and Cameron’s honesty box answers are emotionally charged, and they have the entire room rallying around them. Cameron’s main concern is their different lifestyles. Lyndall feels Cameron isn’t into her the same way she’s into him and is concerned about the lack of affection. Cameron admits to the group that he doesn’t feel like he is falling in love with Lyndall – information that is news to her. Lyndall leaves the dinner table crying, she feels as if she’s been broken up with for the third time in a week. Lyndall is left with plenty to think about before Final Vows.

Melinda reveals she is already in love with Layton, but while the room gushes over this admission, Layton instead questions how Melinda can be in love if they can’t communicate. Melinda is upset that he can’t tap into his emotions and she is with a “robot”. When Layton has his chance to respond, he reveals that he is not falling in love with Melinda just yet.

Bronte and Harrison are tense. Harrison is brutal with his responses and Bronte remains strong on the verge of tears throughout. As the group attempts to interject, Harrison shuts them down. Finally, Bronte seizes her moment to call Harrison out for all the pain he’s caused her and she storms off once and for all, announcing to Harrison that she’s done with their relationship and that she never wants to see him again.

EPISODE 33

The experiment has come to an end and it’s time for the couples to make a decision whether or not to continue their relationship in the outside world at their Final Vows. Tonight, Alyssa & Duncan and Melinda & Layton will reveal their decision to one another. The repercussions from the final Dinner Party can be felt between both couples, with the answers to their Honesty Box questions still ringing in their ears, at a time when they most need to unite.

The reality of having to separate is making a tearful Alyssa anxiously question where Duncan’s head is at, while Duncan feels the weight of the impending decision weighing heavily on his shoulders. A surprise viewing of their wedding day soon brings positive memories to the surface and they part with an emotional embrace.

The Dinner Party has taken an even greater toll on Melinda & Layton, who are waking up separately, after spending the final night of the experiment apart. Melinda is hurt and humiliated after Layton’s analytical rejection of her declaration of love, while Layton’s confusion over the situation only highlights their disconnect. Watching their wedding video, although separately, reminds them both how far they’ve come and why they are so compatible.

After travelling home to Brisbane, Melinda still cannot get past Layton’s rejection. In an emotional chat to her Mum Lorraine, she reflects on her husband’s inability to separate his heart from his mind. Melinda admits that the events of the Dinner Party have changed everything – and is in turmoil over whether she can see a future with him.

At home in Sydney, Layton meets his sister Erin, whose perspective provokes a massive realisation for him – that his inability to be emotional is the roadblock in his relationship with Melinda.

As the sun rises on the day of Melinda & Layton’s Final Vows, Layton finally feels clear-headed. He acknowledges that his emotional disconnect has been ingrained in him since childhood – he needs to let go of his analytical approach and learn to listen to his heart. He regrets how he behaved at the Dinner Party and hopes it is not too late to make things up to Melinda.

In an emotional rollercoaster, Layton finally letting his walls down and tearfully apologises to Melinda for letting her down. He confirms that he wants to take a chance on their relationship and confesses that he is falling in love with Melinda. Melinda admits that while the decision has not come to her easily, she believes that they owe it to each other to give it a shot on the outside as she reaffirms her love for Layton.

Meanwhile, in their separate homes on Sydney’s Northern beaches, Alyssa leans on her Mum for counsel, while Duncan turns to his sister Renee and begins to consider what a future with Alyssa might really look like.

Alyssa reflects her time in the experiment with Duncan, and hopes to help him open when she shares her feelings with him. She has made her choice and confirms how much she wants to have a relationship with Duncan outside of the experiment.

Facing each other to confirm their decision about the future, Alyssa airs her worry that her emotional heart will clash with Duncan’s logical brain. Despite this, she is adamant that she wants to fight for their relationship. Duncan reflects on all of the positives of the relationship. However he cannot ignore that their views on what a healthy relationship should look like are too far opposed – so he has to say goodbye.

Alyssa is in disbelief - Duncan’s decision has come as a huge shock to her. She breaks down and sobs.

EPISODE 34

After nearly three months, the Married At First Sight experiment has come to an end.

All that’s left are the Final Vows Ceremonies, in which our remaining couples Evelyn and Rupert, Tahnee and Ollie and Lyndall and Cameron will make the ultimate choice: to continue their relationship in the real world or leave it all behind.

As the couples pack up to leave their marital homes, their futures weigh heavily on their minds. For love birds Tahnee and Ollie, the experiment has been a great success as their bond has continue to grow throughout the experiment. However, the reality of living on the opposite sides of Australia has finally hit home for the couple. And they are left questioning if their relationship can last the distance.

Meanwhile, Lyndall is broken after Cameron’s revelation at the Final Dinner Party that he is not falling in love with her. There is a knock on the door – and they find an iPad playing their wedding video. The tension in the room soon melts away as the couple reflect on their special day and the way they felt for one another when they first met. Cam softens and laughter and smiles fill the room. As they pack up their things and say goodbye to their shared home, the couple seem buoyed by their happy memories and part ways with a loving kiss.

Evelyn and Rupert are not so loving this morning. The usual quirky energy between them has flipped after the Honesty Box at the Final Dinner Party, where Rupert questioned her attraction to him. Frustrated, Evelyn told him she would not have slept with him if she was not attracted to him. Rupert is offended by the way Evelyn responded and accuses her of being nasty in her tone towards him. A fight ensues and at the final hour Evelyn’s patience with Rupert has worn thin. She walks out on him, without so much as a goodbye.

While Tahnee, Ollie, Lyndall and Cam return to their hometowns to deliberate on their decision for their final vows, Evelyn and Rupert are wasting no time. The couple are soon standing face to face at the Final Vows ceremony – true to. Form, Rupert is unable to speak, leaving Evelyn to once again take the lead.

They both agree that their relationship cannot work, but wish one another well for the future and hope that love will find them both one day.

Tahnee and Ollie’s Final Vows ceremony is just days away and although the pair have managed to continuously grow and maintain their bond throughout the experiment, they now face their biggest challenge yet: distance.

At home in Perth, the reality of the complexities of a long-distance relationship are starting to kick in for Ollie. There is no doubt that he is falling in love with Tahnee, but is he prepared to leave his family and friends 4000km away in Perth to be with her? Meanwhile in Sydney, Tahnee is also nervous about entering a long-distance relationship with Ollie, having experienced heartache with one in the past.

After time reconnecting with family and friends at home, Tahnee and Ollie are finally ready to make what could be a life changing decision. Surrounded by the majesty and romance of the stunning Blue Mountains, Tahnee and Ollie meet again and embrace.

Through tears, Tahnee pours her heart out to Ollie telling him that she is falling in love with him and cannot wait to see what the future holds. Ollie acknowledges that they have had an amazing journey together, but the issue of distance is real, very real. But he concedes that he’s falling in love with Tahnee and it doesn’t matter where they are, as long as they are together. With that, the youngest couple in the experiment, confirm their commitment to one another and their future looks bright.

Meanwhile in Darwin, fresh from watching their wedding video and reliving the magical connection he shared with Lyndall on that special day – Cam has returned home, and his mind is clearer than ever… he sees no future with Lyndall.

In Perth, Lyndall has returned home, unaware that Cam has already decided their fate. She is missing Cam and the time they have spent together. She turns to her mother for advice. Lyndall reveals to her mother that Cam told her at the Dinner Party that he does not think he is falling for her. Lyndall’s mother reminds her that
she deserves to be loved, and all the ways her partner should show her that love. Lyndall is left wondering if Cam is not the person for her.

Lyndall and Cameron reunite in the Blue Mountains, to confirm their true feelings for each other at their final vows. As they come face to face for the first time in a week Lyndall takes the lead. She reminisces on the happy times they spent together and her unwavering commitment to their relationship through good and bad times. Lyndall announces all the times that Cam let her down. As someone who has lived their life with Cystic Fibrosis but now has a new lease on life, she will not waste any more time being held back – certainly not by Cam.

Having said her piece, she tells Cam that she does not want to hear his vows, as she knows she’ll be disappointed by him again. Cam throws his vows to the ground and storms off. Lyndall is elated.

Reunion Dinner Party

It’s been four weeks since the end of the experiment and the participants are getting ready to catch up at the Reunion Dinner Party.

Two of the experiment’s successful couples, Melinda & Layton and Tahnee & Ollie, are entering the Reunion Dinner Party, both still together. The couples that didn’t make it to the end of the experiment are anticipating an exciting and confronting reunion with the group.

Bronte and Harrison are both happily single. Claire reveals that she and Jesse talk often, and Jesse is wondering whether the spark is still there between them.

For Alyssa and Duncan, time has not healed all wounds and Alyssa is going into the Dinner Party feeling that Duncan had manipulated her throughout the experiment and wants answers tonight.

New information has been revealed which has made Lyndall question her entire experience in the experiment.

Lyndall is planning to call Cameron out, after she heard from at least two sources that Cameron has been sexting with Tayla. Lyndall believes Tayla and Cameron’s flirtation started during the experiment, and she wants answers.

The Cocktail Party commences with an energetic Jesse entering followed by Sandy. Lyndall enters the Cocktail Party and discloses to Jesse and Sandy that she and Cameron broke up at Final Vows and informs them about the rumours of Cameron and Tayla sexting and exchanging nudes. Sandy and Jesse are shocked.

The mood of the room is lifted after Tahnee & Ollie enter but is quickly turned sour after Alyssa arrives and tells the group that Duncan dumped her and blindsided her at Final Vows.

Claire arrives at the Cocktail Party and gives a warm reception to Jesse; however the opposite is true when Cameron arrives and completely ignores Lyndall.

Ollie confronts Cameron about the rumours between him and Tayla. Cameron does not think that anything outside the experiment is anyone’s business and he denies the rumours.

Tayla is the last to arrive and everyone is anticipating Cameron’s greeting with Tayla. Tahnee asks Tayla if the rumours are true, but she denies that there is anything going on between her and Cameron.

There is tension around the dinner table and Melinda begins with addressing the elephant in the room: The alleged sexting between Cameron and Tayla.

Cameron attempts to explain what happened between him and Tayla as she sits across the table smirking. Cameron defends that it’s just been a friendly back and forth chat however when Tayla eventually speaks up, she admits to the group she saw Cameron naked when they Facetimed. The revelation shocks the group and leaves Lyndall upset.

Bronte addresses the group to reveal that she reached out to the girl that Harrison had been seeing before the experiment to find out the nature of their relationship. Harrison reveals that the girl then called him to let him know that Bronte had reached out to her and in an attempt to take Bronte down, he pulls out a printed copy of Bronte’s messages to his ex to show the table. Bronte laughs, as she believes the messages are not damaging, and the group laughs at Harrison for bringing his printed ‘receipts’.

Alyssa confronts Duncan at the dinner table. Alyssa feels like Duncan led her on and she leaves the table crying, telling Duncan he broke her heart. Alyssa returns to the table, where Duncan explains himself as best he can, but Alyssa is unsatisfied with his answers.

Alyssa is an absolute train wreck and makes no sense in any of her arguments. It’s like she’s gaslighting herself. I hope that she’s embarassed watching this all back. She was trending #1 on twitter at one point last night.

I noticed that Dan was almost completely edited out of last night’s episode (like the boys night), which is apparently because of all the spoilers he leaked early on. Looks like he will get some airtime tonight though when it’s all showing the bad sides of him.

Harisson just keeps embarassing himself too. Hopefully the experts grill him tonight.

Reunion Dinner Party 2

The experts welcome the group to their final night to reflect on the major moments in the experiment. Off the back of last night’s Dinner Party, there are clearly many open wounds and tonight is a night for respect, openness and honesty to reflect on it all. The experts show the group moments from their wedding days and they are a mixture of emotion, laughs and tears.

Tahnee and Ollie are first up on the couch and start off by explaining that their relationship status is officially boyfriend/girlfriend. Tahnee feels really lucky about their journey in the experiment and how they’ve made it work on the outside. Ollie admits that he is in love with Tahnee and he is moving to Sydney to be with her.

Sandy and Dan are next to come to the couch. The group sees a vision of Hugo admitting that Dan did say terrible things about Sandy on the boys night that became the subject of the butt dial. The group is shocked. Dan and Sandy fight and Dan disagrees at every turn. John tells Dan that he says ‘No’ all the time, which dismisses any partner he’s with and makes her feel insignificant. John tells Dan this is not appropriate in a relationship and he should learn from this. The experts commend Sandy for her bravery throughout the experiment.

Melinda & Layton are a picture of love on the couch. Melinda explains that she expected to feel a spark on the wedding day, and she was disappointed when she didn’t but those feelings grew, and now she feels Layton is her person. There’s plenty of laughter and tears while watching their package. They both admit that there have been plenty of ups and downs but by doing the work they have been able to grow. Layton says he’s falling in love with Melinda even more. They say they both see a future with each other. Melinda wants five children and always wants Layton with her in her future.

The experts bring up Lyndall and Cameron and start off by saying that they had high hopes for their relationship and can see there are still open wounds. They both admit they are happier since leaving the experiment and being home.

After seeing their relationship play back, Lyndall explains how hard it was to watch as the beginning of their relationship was so good and there was affection, but it all went so bad at the end. Cameron believes there was a lot of pressure at the start and he was affectionate because of the pressure. Lyndall questions this and lets Cameron know how offensive it is that he’s even saying that. The experts ask about his relationship with Tayla but Cameron denies anything there. Tayla gets nervous when asked and accidentally shows her cards that she probably does have feelings for Cameron but nothing has happened “yet”. Cameron admits he came to the experiment not ready for a relationship. Cameron tries to apologise to Lyndall for the way he treated her. Lyndall calls Cameron out for not being remorseful and lists all the ways he has hurt her, finishing off by telling him to “be better”. The experts urge Cameron to take her advice – and wish them the best for the future.

Alyssa and Duncan are up next and Alyssa explains that she felt heartbroken by the final vows. Duncan isn’t happy that Alyssa’s comments last night questioned his character. Alyssa apologises to Duncan and the group for her behaviour last night. Alyssa cries watching their relationship played back. When asked by John how she feels watching it back Alyssa admits she should have seen it coming and apologises to Duncan. Alyssa acknowledges to John that she shouldn’t have been as emotionally charged at times and she shouldn’t have walked away in the hard times. Alyssa wishes Duncan all the best and says she’s sorry. Duncan thanks Alyssa and wishes her all the best.

Jesse and Claire are the last on the couch. Alessandra starts by commending the couple for having love and respect for each other after the experiment. Claire and Jesse are both emotional watching their package and Claire says she feels disgusted by her own behaviour and for gaslighting Jesse. Jesse says that he developed strong enough feelings for Claire to get jealous, to cry and to forgive her. John questions Adam on his deceit. Adam apologises again and Jesse accepts his apology.

Jesse says he feels like he’s an even better guy now after being in the experiment. Claire says this experiment has shone a light on her behaviours she wants to improve and is grateful for the respect that Jesse has given her. Both Claire and Jesse agree the end of this experiment is the start of their friendship and that Claire is going to Perth for a visit.

It’s done and dusted for another year

I’m surprised that Harisson and Bronte didn’t make the cut in the reunion, given how much of the season was focused on them. I guess everything there was to discuss on them has already played out.

Could the reason be that Harrison spilled the beans on how fake the show is on the Fitzy and Wippa radio show and producers were not happy? He told them that he wanted to quit the show after the second episode but producers made him stay on it because they just wanted him to create drama. No matter how badly he behaved or ridiculous he was, they wouldn’t let him leave.

This was no secret but nobody was forcing him there. He clearly wanted to be there for fame. That was blatantly obvious on the show. If you watched it, you would have seen that week after week the other contestants constantly questioned his and Bronte’s motives for still being there. There was a very big point made of this by other contestants at the last commitment ceremony when they both wrote ‘Stay’, despite announcing their break-up up at the dinner party the night before.

The actual reason as reported yesterday was because there was nothing new to add from what went on at the Reunion dinner party. There were no fresh revelations to cover in the finale and it was fitting to wrap up the storyline with all of the contestants basically making a mockery of him. There were also multiple couples excluded from the finale for similar reasons, their storyline had wrapped up.

We’ll see how long that lasts.

In previous seasons, participants’ Instagram accounts are returned within two weeks of the season finale.

However, this year’s stars have been told to wait even longer, with producers saying they wouldn’t have theirs back until Monday, May 15.

Channel Nine and the production company are reportedly concerned about the cast going rogue on social media while season 10 is still airing overseas.

The current season is showing on Channel 4.

Delete them. I would! :japanese_goblin:
