In early 2026 the New South Wales town of Moree became the testing ground for a new type of police drone, one authorities say is specifically designed for tracking criminals. Using AI technology, the drones can identify people up to 120 metres away. Lawyers have doubts the surveillance technology is legal, while Rights Advocates are worried about privacy.
