Enforcement action against Kyle & Jackie O Show licensees for complaint-handling breaches

The ARN Media licensees of the Kyle & Jackie O Show have entered into an 18-month court-enforceable undertaking for breaches of complaint-handling rules under the Commercial Radio Code of Practice (the Code).

Under the Code, commercial radio broadcasters must respond to Code complaints within 30 business days of receipt of the complaint.

An ACMA investigation published in October 2025 found that between August and October 2024 Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation Pty Ltd (KIIS 106.5), the program’s Sydney licensee, received seven Code complaints relating to the show. Of those, six complaints were not responded to within 30 business days of receipt of the complaint.

Double T Radio Pty Ltd (KIIS 101.1), the Melbourne licensee, received 15 Code complaints, of which nine were not responded to within 30 business days of receipt of the complaint. The Melbourne licensee had previously breached this provision of the Code in an ACMA investigation in March 2025.

The court-enforceable undertaking requires the licensees to report to the ACMA on their processes for managing listener complaints, as well as any changes or improvements made. All staff involved in complaint handling will also be required to undertake training on compliance with relevant provisions of the Code.

This enforcement action follows the additional licence conditions imposed on the ARN Media licensees for breaches of the Code’s decency provision found in the same investigation report.

What does this say about the future of the KIIS Syd/Melb breakfast show?

And one would assume Pete will be Sydney-based - so a good idea for on-ground activations & content pieces given recent 101.7 ratings.

So it is just Brooklyn Ross and Mayo left in the mornings from the Kyle and Jacki O Show? They were there presenting this morning (perhaps still with Mike E from the brief time I tuned in)?

Surprised to see Intern Pete leave. And to go to the Christian “giggles” O’Connell Show.

Can someone confirm - so Mayo is or was Senior Producer for KJ, but left? And Croat Nat is still EP?

I’m just trying to work out why the fanfare or Mayo’s return?

It’s as if she’s going to “tell all” by the way they’ve been promoting her comeback.

It’s clearly ARN’s way to hold onto any remains of the KJ loyal audience.

Mayo was a Senior Producer before she went on Maternity Leave. She has since returned as fill-in host (today), but am not sure if she is still a producer or not. Sorry.

"The spectacular collapse of The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Melbourne remains one of the biggest commercial radio misfires in recent years. Despite massive marketing, relentless publicity and network confidence, the show struggled to connect with local listeners from the beginning.

Now one of the program’s most recognisable personalities is being repositioned onto a breakfast show that has succeeded in Melbourne precisely because it feels different."
