KIIS Network

Because that’s what ARN (and SCA) do best when a station is number one.

I really would have thought K&J doing an OB this week for Melbourne Cup would really assist them in the southern market. Especially when there are so many celebrities in town.

Fucking idiots.

Radio legend John Laws passing will have a big impact on Kyle and also Jackie.

How so? Will they quit radio?

John appeared regularly on the show and was a close friend of Kyle’s.

I had been hearing rumours since about 3pm. Kyle was basically the first to confirm the news around 7pm.

Another excuse to call in sick?

Is that necessary? Think what you want about the guy but he just lost a friend. If he did decide he wasn’t able to work tomorrow then that’s his choice.

They used to go to long lunches together.

He was friends with (and admired by) a lot of radio hosts. Tim Blackwell also spoke fondly of him. They had appeared on each others show quite a few times.

ACMA imposes licence conditions on ARN following the code-breaching findings against the K&J Show.

For the next 5 years, the Licensee must:

  1. Follow the Broadcasting Code:
Comply with clause 2.2 of the Commercial Radio Australia Code of Practice 2017 (revised 2018), or any similar clause in any updated version registered by the ACMA.

  2. Avoid Offensive or Explicit Content:
Ensure the program does not air material that would be considered highly offensive to a reasonable listener, or that contains strong or explicit sexual references.

  3. Conduct an Independent Compliance Audit.

Would any of them follow those rules

So a slap on the wrist then

A license condition is more serious than a code, break the condition and your license could be taken from you. This plus the revenue guidance today… grim day at arn.

Those conditions pretty much describe the K&J show lol. If they follow No. 2 there won’t be much else left to broadcast.

In other K&J news today, looks like they’re not going to prison.

Why would an additional condition attached to a broadcast licence need to include “Follow the Broadcasting Code” that has to be followed anyway.

Good question. It’s because the potential punishment for breaching a Licence Condition is more serious than breaching the Code.
