this has to be the nail in the coffin for a national expansion. I can’t see them expanding outside of Melbourne and Sydney now - and i can see them going on chrstmas break in melbourne and not coming back

they had a slight increase in the last ratings survey in Melbourne. If it becomes a trend they might stick with it

I think if they drop back again over the next few surveys, you can probably write off any chance of future success for it. It’s 18-months now since debut - if listeners were going to warm to it in Melbourne, they would have by now.

I work in agency sales, so I’m perhaps more obsessed with the 25-54 demo than most. Interestingly, K&J and Christian O’Connell are currently tied on a 9.1% share for that demo. Looking at cume, K&J are above Triple M, Smooth and 3AW.

Many networks are now more focussed on being commercially successful with this demo, rather than the traditional prestige that comes with performing well 10+.

Absolutely. This is the genius behind the K&J contract, along with Duncan. I read a media commentator this week (who I subscribe to), who said industry speculation is that the cost to payout the contract is actually more than ARN is worth in total. Wow. And apparently the contract is watertight.

You’d have to think so. There’s no way they’d go live in Melbourne but not in Sydney. What’s the point? Who cares if it’s a public holiday in Sydney they would still air the show there.

Why would Gordie leave? And would Smallzy really want a standard workday shift? He’s better at delivering interviews and heavier content. Not back announce songs.

A semi national daytime shift would be more listened to than a nights show. I assume they’d want more personality too to fit the station style and connecting with the breakfast show and leading out of that big audience too.
