I believe it has a clause when if they don’t work they don’t get paid for the equivalent amount for a day

Kyle Sandilands could be docked $1m in pay for sick days
Sandilands has previously admitted he is only entitled to a finite number of sickies a year.
In 2020 he said it was 11.
For every day he calls in sick beyond that figure his pay is docked.
Given in 2019 he claimed he was fined $28,000 per shift, which cost him $250,000 for the year, with inflation factored in – along with his wildly increased salary – we think it within the realms of possibility he might be fined $50,000 a shift today.
Which means that if he calls in sick on 20 occasions (above and beyond his approved schedule of sick days), this could save ARN $1 million this year.

Just so embarrassing that ARN put themselves in such a position where Those Two call all the shots and increasingly just turn up when they feel like it. Talk about the Inmates running the Asylum. K&J themselves may be on casual payroll soon if their work rate gets any less. Anyway why would K&J gives a rats ar$e if they get docked 100k or 200k or 500k or whatever. That still leaves them 9.9m or 9.8m or 9.5m p.a. to scrape by on. What a joke ARN has become.

I am not a fan of the show, but I feel like they aren’t treated fairly when they are sick. Criticise that they don’t persevere with one of them and a replacement, but not being sick.
Kyle did reveal that he had severe health issues this year and alluded to multiple others over the years too. If he is suffering or Jacqui is, they should be allowed to take sick leave.
While zero idea how their contracts work, being sick and taking sick leave is a protected right for most of us. We should afford the same fairness on them.
People have complicated health issues or reasons for being off air and it can manifest in multiple ways.
I think sometimes for health things, maybe give him the benefit of the doubt is fair.

I hear what you are saying. However, I think that Kyle has a very long history of taking a lot of sick leave.
It’s almost getting to the the point where “ the best bits” are repeats of “the best bits”.

I feel like ARN really screwed up this contract. It seems all in K&J’s favour. They have been screwed over and are now suffering the consequences.

ARN management must have a strong fear of losing Kyle and going back to the annual breakfast rotations on 106.5FM.
They thought Kyle would fix the network.
Now they’re even more stuffed… and not just in Sydney.

I think it’s unfair to criticise when you don’t really know what’s going on.
Tamara Oudyn from ABC News Victoria is away equally as much as Kyle and whenever that’s mentioned members are attacked for not knowing her reasons.
Gotta be fair.

If it was anyone else but Kyle I’d agree. But the way Kyle attacks disabled people, gay people etc. and vilifies all and sundry, all bets are off. He deserves to be equally attacked.

Neither is Kyle. Cooper’s filling in. The shows still going on. Just like Isk and all the others filling in on ABC News.
Well put it another way, Tamara’s contract isn’t causing mass redundancies at the ABC and threatening it’s mere existance.
