KIIS Network

Because he is literally paid to do it.

KIIS is a media sponsor of the AO?

Yep. Community radio, you say and play what you like, within the guidelines of course. Commercial radio, you’re paid to say and play what you’re told, regardless of whether or not you like it.

Yep, the mistakes and fuckups continue in 2025.

Clearly they don’t have anyone left in Melbourne to provide advice to the Sydney marketing team.

K&J’s Melbourne tagline is bad IMO. But I actually don’t mind their “bigger” Sydney campaign.

It’s true. KIIS106.5 and K&J do it bigger in Sydney. And it’s a shame Nova96.9 and 2DayFM just don’t try as hard when it comes to on-ground exposure and rolling “big” radio tactics. KIIS seem to be the only network coming up with fresh and creative station promos these days (speaking about the Sydney market only).

That’s one of the differences between Melbourne and Sydney. And I’m speaking in broad terms, but club membership in Melbourne means buying your season ticket, wearing your team colors and joining thousands of others barracking in the hope of winning the flag. In Sydney it’s paying five bucks, playing the pokies and going in the meat raffle.

Exclusivity is a two-edged sword though. For every person who listens to the breakfast show and feels like they belong and are part of the club, there’s another person who feels alienated by all the in-jokes and cliquishness.

How did Scott appear on Kyle and Jackie O this morning? Did they come back early?

Had a quick listen to the segment on the website, and it sounds like Intern Pete is filling in for them.

I guess since it was uploaded to their shows section on the iHeart website, and that there is already a transcript, someone at the Daily Mail didn’t bother to listen to the segment.

I’d say that’s ARN Programming stating it is still technically The Kyle & Jackie O Show, regardless of who is hosting. Similar to how Today and Sunrise run on holiday/summer fill-ins.

A little misleading, but I’d assume it’s all for PR & branding.

Half reminds me of the campaign they used in 2015 to launch the station…

This was also used in conjunction with the tagline ‘Melbourne Now’.
Can’t say they are very Melbourne Now in 2025 though…

That was what you could see it as the beginning of a transition to it being a 100% Sydney radio station repeater in the Victorian capital.

They are certainly Sydney Now in the year 2025…

If you love Sydney content (and a Sydney vibe for that matter) in Melbourne, KIIS is your station. But if you love local content made locally in Melbourne, KIIS is NOT your station.

A shame because when KIIS101.1 launched they had more programming come from Melbourne than 106.5 had coming from Sydney.

That’s Australian media in a nutshell. If it’s not a Sydney station networked elsewhere, it’ll be a Melbourne station networked elsewhere.

It’s like everywhere else is a wasteland.

The best looking artwork yet for Mix102.3. Great to see ARN still giving Brisbane & Adelaide their own styles (for now).

arguably best looking artwork at ARN at the moment, compared to the other metros

And that’s the number 1 problem that KIIS won’t admit.

The station does not resonate with Melbourne at all.

K&J are a Sydney brand. Their audience (over the past 20 year) has grown up with them being based there. They are Sydney.

I flicked to KIIS briefly this morning and they were playing Kyle & Jackie O best bits with a live announcer in between as well. So I assume it must have been the same last week and they’ve taken a call from Tweedie.
