KIIS Network

Honestly nothing would surprise me with ARN and Kyle.

From Zetta to Nexgen, yes - is it compatible in reverse?

Byron Cooke looking after breakfast, good operator, however, we all know that music announcer only breakfast shifts do not fare well against shows.

2DAY tried it, more decline. For Smooth, often their softest day part, same for the ‘new’ AM music choices of 4BC, 2UE, 3MP & Magic. Despite excellent talent of Bob, Trevor, so on, plus marketing and client comps, the breakfast shows lag the day shifts.

This will happen for 101.1, the audience will decline and miracles expected K&J. Could be a huge success or it could also fail to fire. The Cage Triple M breakfast era had some success, that show evolved from a Melb show and had a used by date.

10+ years of K&J could be a big ask.

Let’s call it for what it is. KIIS101.1 Breakfast was simply collateral for K&J’s contract negotiations/renewal.

Sacrifice Melbourne breakfast, or risk losing the team to SCA.

The delay getting K&J on-air comes with some tradeoffs - ARN will want something in that slot that is as benign as possible. Keeps people listening without building an expectant audience that it’s the future, but at the same time stemming the tide (as much as practical) for listeners going to other stations (or streaming).

Not covering off on air that they won’t be on air until later in the year is potentially a bit dangerous, I suspect there will be a decent audience who tune in on Monday expecting to hear them only to be disappointed.

I suspect there will be a decent contingent tuning in on Monday itching to spout hate who will be equally disappointed.

disappointed yes, but does provide time to polish that draft tweets/facebook responses

I must be in the minority. Give me a single announcer and music any day. I cant stand unfunny breakfast crews.

Also:

The duo’s breakfast show will expand to Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1 in the first quarter of this year too.

Wait… didn’t Nova use the same track in their TVC?

Here we go again with the edited branded music tracks.

intresting to hear at the end of the TVC they are still using

“Kyle & Jackie O in the morning, Only on KIIS 1065”

not for long…

I suspect Joel Corey/MNEK or their record label(s) have specifically licensed this song for radio branding.

Sounds like the vocals are provided by MNEK as they match. It could also just be AI which is relatively easy to do these days, and I’m sure they can use all the music without issue.

Interesting that this song seems to get selected a lot though for this purpose .

Vocals are provided by MNEK. In fact KIIS had this version before Nova did, when the song was originally released as they used it in station umbrella promos after Radio surveys were released

I see, nova liked the idea and copied them. Makes sense

Good to see that even in the TVC it’s got the classic pitched by a few % effect that KIIS put on all their music hahaha

Just heard a K&JO ad saying they’ll be live in Melbourne.
They have numerous ads for the show running on high rotation now

So Melbourne radio is about to submit to the drivel that these two spew out each day. Oh well there is a sea a cretins out there so at least we know someone will be listening.

How is their show any different to any other breakfast show? Aside from the fact that it’s been running for 19 years (in breakfast, just this week actually) and is one of the most listened to breakfast shows in the country?

It’s clear you have a low opinion of them, and their audience (cretins, really?), but you must admit, they’re clearly doing something right, for them to have been running as long as they have, as successfully and high-rated as they have, and for the amount of money they’re being paid.

Sorry but do you really need to ask this? It’s the vile content and mocking of disadvantaged people for a start. Just because a lot of people seem to find this not only acceptable, but actually funny, is a very sad indictment on them. Normalising this type of behaviour just because a lot of people listen, doesn’t make it right.
