They probably didn’t change it when they relaunched back in 2014 as Mix has usually been one of, or sometimes is, the highest rating station in Adelaide in the past.
Max and Ali. I like it.
If they move to an SCA station they’ll become “Moonah and the Big A”
It’s good for 10 that Max has a higher profile.
still only mentioning sydney on a show that
now should be focused on 2 markets
also no mention of k&j on kiis101.1
this makes me wonder if they’re gonna change, at all to accomodate the five Melbourne listeners who will choose to listen to them
Even their on air promos sound sheepish, Will and Woody are more front and centre than Kyle and Jackie O. Bizarre…
You’re assuming KJ’s launching on Monday, though, aren’t you?
This makes me wonder whether or not Melbourne actually want K&J… or if it’s Sydney who wants K&J in Melbourne?
Maybe Melbourne is resisting by not updating their socials, website and even by changing Jase & Lauren’s Facebook page to simply removing the KIIS logo rather than closing it altogether?
Surely if management were big on this (and all on the same page) then you would see greater presence and pre-promote.
Wouldn’t the level of promotion of the show be dependent on when it actually commences?
If you’re referring to local Melbourne station employees, I think it’s safe to say no they wouldn’t like seeing K&J broadcast into Melbourne, especially after seeing the stations local breakfast show axed last year.
I’m assuming Sydney management will eventually take control and force promotion and advertising down our throats.
Maybe they got the facebook page as a parting gesture… i mean if theyre going to podcast then theres no iheart mentions or anything so id say it was part of the deal
you would think they would start broadcasting into melbourne the same day they start back for 2024. new year so everyone get a fresh chance to listen at the same time
… Surely if you’re bringing this country’s biggest radio show to your station, you’d be hyping it up as much as possible …
Jase and PJ kept their socials in the move from ZM to KIIS. So I wouldnt be surprised if Jase negotiated to keep the Jase and Lauren socials when the new show started
Nova and Fox are back on Monday 15th. It’s also when the survey begins.
The only thing I can think of is they want to promote at a time when people can then tune in and listen.
Promote too soon - and all the articles about the past dramas come up. It could put people off.
Promote when there’s something to immediately listen to, maybe people are more likely to give it a go and see whether it’s different to their perspectives or not.
I have zero insight into this, just the only thing I can think.
Edit: oh and the audio they refer to in that talks about KIIS’ 10th anniversary in Sydney, maybe they are delaying Melbourne so they can focus and talk about that.
I would definitely think this is a consideration. Maybe the strategy is to keep their arrival low key and let the audience come to them in due course, K&J aren’t going anyway in a hurry and ARN are probably expecting a share drop in the interim as part of this plan.
According to the Herald Sun (paywall; excerpt via Mediaweek), Kyle & Jackie O’s Melbourne radio debut has been delayed, with the start date for their expansion yet to be confirmed, except to say that it “is coming very soon”.
Seems like a bit of a beat up by the Herald Sun. How can something be delayed when a launch date hasn’t initially been given?
i think with all the promos about kiis sydney’s 10th birthday they will do a birthday week for sydney and then the week after will bring the k&j show to melbourne
But still, this is not a good start as I believe Fox / Nova / MMM / Gold / Smooth breakfast teams are all back next week.
