This is what nine should be doing.
Stan has this world feed too, thankfully ![]()
This video shows a great range of different cricket scoregraphic setups. And show how obtrusive and overly massive the Fox set are:
I hadn’t seen much of the BBC highlights setup until below:
I think they’re largely fine - as long as they use it to display enough information. The early iterations of the Fox graphics were big and didn’t show enough info to justify the size.
What info doesn’t get shown in this one?
These, while the BBC"s were never used live, are arguably the best imo, clean and simple.
The ball by ball analysis, plus the use of the bottom as a flipper of sorts.
I don’t mind Fox being more detailed as it is in theory the hardcore cricket fan broadcast v 7 which should be more accessible. I don’t find any use in overs in the innings though in a test match.
A lot of wasted space. Quite British and basic imho
It might just be me showing my age but I have never been a fan of the score bar at the bottom of the screen, always found it overcomplicated score graphics. Personally my favourite graphics were the ones used by Channel 4 between 2002 and 2005 with the traditional score box on the top right of the screen. I also liked the graphics that Sky New Zealand used between 2008 and 2013, remember Fox utilizing the same package for a few Sheffield Shield matches around that time as well.
I never felt there was any information that a fan would require was missing from those graphics. If anything it would prompt curiosity to watch for a while to learn more about the state of the game rather than be fed an overload of unnecessary statistics directly. The other extreme however was Channel 9’s score graphics from 1996 to 2000, with the small score box at the bottom left of the screen that would only appear at the end of an over or whenever a run was scored, which kinda got annoying during slow passages of play in Test matches.
I saw on some socials that NBC won’t wait until Super Bowl to reveal their new NFL scorebug. It might happen this weekend (Monday Aus time)
It is happening this weekend, as noted prior to the season:
Speaking of Peacock, starting next year you can control commentary and crowd noise levels.
And Australian viewers watching on 7mate and ESPN probably won’t see it as they’ll be lumbered with the world feed abomination instead.
Probably the only game which will escape the world feed will be Tuesday’s ABC/ESPN game on ESPN. On 7mate it will almost certainly be world feed.
I really don’t think the world feed presentation is anywhere near abomination levels. Sure, there are times where it does seem a little clunky, particularly when commentators are referring to graphics that aren’t shown, but overall it is still a decent presentation.
I would call Fox’s current presentation an abomination though. The scorebug is by far the worst I have seen.
Evolution rather than revolution. Good to see Ringside lives on.
It’s clunky - and I find it is hard to immerse yourself in the game because of it.
And that’s always going to be an issue when you have your own presentation on top of the coverage of the host broadcaster.
Is it as good as the straight US feed? No.
Is it an abomination? Far from it.
Yeah it’s not an abomination but I’m surprised more hasn’t been done to make it less clunky.
NBC’s 2026-30 NFL graphic package. (This post will update as the game progresses. Remember, there are Super Bowl-specific elements withheld until the day.)
Also note the subtlety in scoreboard side graphics’ out animations. They are alternate team logos.
The scoreboard is a downgrade imho.
Don’t mind the overall package
